I have been reading the forum for awhile, and I don't have a Stryker...yet. Just today I sold my 07 HD, so now the hunt is on.
First a litttle about me. My last two bikes have been Harleys. an 07 Electra Glide, and a 99 Wide Glide. Before that I had a list of Metric bikes from an R1 to a V-Star, to a Mean Streak, and even a KLR 650 (Which I took on a 1300 mile ride around Lake Superior). I have also built and sold several Honda CB750 Choppers and just finished up a Harley Ironhead Bobber.

Back to my hunt.
I test drove a 2011 dealer demo yesterday with 190 miles on it, and I must say that I was suprised at how well it handled. I like the lines of the Stryker, but didn't think I would like the ride. I guess I was wrong. I talked with the salesman and he said that they would be willing to take $8000 for it. This seems like a decent deal, but I always want the best deal. You guys/gals have been around the Stryker more than I have, is this a killer price, or should I push them lower, or try for some accessories? Coming from the world of HD it seems crazy that I could buy a brand new bike like this for 8 grand (and it is fuel injected and liquid cooled).

I did really like the look and feel of the bike, but I don't want to pull the trigger on the first bike I come across seeing as I am in that delicate rebound phase of the motorcycle selling and buying circle.

I really just wanted to introduce myself now that I registered, say thanks for all of the information that is already here, and see what you all thought about the price point on this. Since it snowed here all day and we are supposed to get a few more inches overnight I figure I have some time to think about it.

Thanks,
Erik

Thanks for the input. I thought it seemed like a good price. Now I am torn between snatching it up tomorrow or looking at a few bikes when I am in St. Paul for work on Tuesday. Part of me hates buying a new bike because I then have to buy accessories, but at least I know the history and can accessorize the way I want.

That's a really good price. I bought my new '11 Stryker for $9,999 and I thought that was a great deal at the time. You should jump on that soon or someone else will.

You all sure make it hard for me to even think about other bikes. I keep trying to talk myself out of just buying the **** thing tomorrow. I have been a "cruiser guy" for a long time. I have considered getting a dual sport or a sport touring bike just to change it up. Tuesday I am lined up to look at a douple DS bikes, an ST1300, another Stryker, and a Suzuki M109r. I have always liked the M109r and even thought they are more than I want to spend, Suzuki has 0% financing right now which makes it more tempting. It is just so hard to be without a bike and not have to worry about trading something in. So many bikes, so little time :)

Not that we are bias or anything like that, but anything other than a Stryker won't be the same. ;D

That is to be expected. I assume that the Suzuki forum is full of Stryker Bashers.

Hello from northern mn. Welcome. I bought my stryker in march from tousley in white bear lake. 2011 zero miles. 8499 before tax and title and such. think final price was around 9300. they will want you to bring it in for the 600 mi first check up. They're going to say it's about $330. They can be talked down to about $120. I'd say try and work that first check up into the deal. It's a nice price. But doesn't hurt to ask for more.

The only 2 things I am not crazy about on the Stryker is I don’t like fuel tank, and I would like dual front brakes. (A Personnel preference because I am completely in functionality.) I like bikes like the Confederate R131 Fighter, but have the income of a moped.
I do many long rides and 300 miles is the range I am looking at getting.
That said.
I like the ride and the torque this bike puts out, I also like the ride and handling of this bike. Setting it up with an auxiliary fuel tank, hard saddlebags, and top trunk is easy. I also like the handlebar position, similar to my dirt bikes. Big old bagger bars seem awkward.
I like this bike can be made into any street bike you want. It is a good starting platform.
Good luck on your choice.

Well I probably got the deal of the year. Got a '11 Stryker through a private deal on Craigslist with 120 miles on it and 6 months warranty. The bike even had Cobra swept pipes and a small handlebar bag, all for $7600. It was a odd situation of a very small person, with no riding experience buying the Stryker because it was a new and shiny object. He bought it without the family's knowledge and when they found out they wanted it gone ASAP in January regardless of the price. I couldn't walk away from that deal.

I was considering a Stryker or a Raider. Based on the price of this one, I couldn't justify going with the Raider. But that purchase motviated my wife to order the blue Stryker that she really wanted from the beginning. So since lighting couldn't strike twice, we had to buy the second from the dealer. That one ran $9200 plus the pipes and freight, etc. So all in all I saved $4000 on one, but then paid regular price for a second. So the overall average is still in my favor.

So it looks like there are some other Stryker guys out there. I am headed to the TC area tomorrow and I am planning to swing by Tousley. They carry a bunch of different makes, so I can ride some other stuff before I make the final decision. I was quoted 8999 at five seasons sports in Eveleth which seemed like a pretty good deal too, but it is not as good as 8 grand OTD. So, I put my name on the one here at the local dealer. If I don't fall in love while I am in the TC area tomorrow I will pick it up later this week.

8k is a sweet deal, I bought mine for 8,999 last month and it had 175 miles on it ... but had the full wararanty as new. I tried a lot of bikes before deciding on the stryker and I have to say that this was the best decision by far... You won't regret it...

I spent the morning working and the afternoon looking at other bikes and other dealerships. I am reasonably sure that I won't find a better deal on a Stryker, or a better new bike of this caliber for anywhere near the price at the LD. I am going to head up there tomorrow. As long as there are no suprises, I will be the proud owner of a Blue Stryker tomorrow at this time. Then let the mods begin. Tonight I made a side mount plate bracket for the bobber I am building. I liked it so much I started on one for a Stryker that I don't even own yet :). Anyway, wish me luck.

On another note, I saw a raven Stryker at the Dennis Kirk Warehouse today when I stopped. I was in a hurry to get home so I didn't hunt down the owner. I liked the whole bike, but thought the windshield looked great on it. Any chance that any of you were at Dennis Kirk in Rush City this afternoon at about 4PM, and what windshield do you have?

Thanks for the advice and info,
Later
