Just got my Stryker yesterday. Is it me or does the trany seen to be geared high? It bucks jerks at speeds below 20
Yes it is very tall in the gears. below 20 mph keep it in first and feather your clutch/throttle
I have had to learn to ride mine smoothly up here in these hills, lots of 10 and 15 mph curves here lol
the rest of the time I am in second/third gear.... I never see 4th unless we make it out to hwy 36 and rarely see 5th gear unless on the slab

clutch control

Yamaha took the vstar 1300 and adjusted the stroke, then changed the gearing of the tranny. It likes to run at higher rpms than most twins, but for low speeds your best solution is simply clutch control. It has been weird for me getting used to a higher rpm twin compared to the vstar 1100 i had years ago... course i'm also trying to shake my sportbike riding habits lol

Congrats on the purchase. There is a LOT of awesome stuff you can do to this bike... hope you have pocket $$$$

Congrats and welcome man, where r u in Texas? Quite a few of us in Dfw... And yes like most said it likes higher rpms. I think of it as a vtwin and r1 had a baby and produced the stryker, takes some time to get use to the beast but once you do it's all smiles
