Can anyone tell me what this plug is? It's mounted behind the headlight bracket and plugs into the wiring harness. The other end has a spike of some sort that protrudes out the other side.

That is the flux capacitor. Either that or an air temperature sensor for the fuel injection system?

Yep thats the flux capacitor. There alot smaller these days than in the 80... Just remember 88 mph is the key... But yes thats the air temp sensor.

In in case you were wondering...Yes you DO need it. You'll get a warning light on the gauges and an error code. I know because I forgot to plug mine in when I installed the new headlight. I can't remember now, but I don't think the bike would even start without it.

So it's an air temp. Got it! Where did you guys relocate yours too? Or did you just make a new little bracket for it?

Mine actually started, but I only looked to see if the high/low beam had power. I didn't even think to look at the cluster. ???

You can pretty much relocate it any ware you want just keep it away from the engine temps.
