Any other Long Islanders Here?
Hi everyone... former Sportbiker here... Owned a ton of 600 and 1000's and have finally decided to calm down and just enjoy the ride without always lookin' over my shoulder anymore. Got in lotsa trouble on my ZX10r and decided to sell it and now am back to that beautiful rumble of the V-Twin! Picked up a Stryker a few days ago and can't wait to break it in. It's been pouring here since I've gotten it so only took it out for a few... Gota get used to the weight as I'm so used to the lighter sport bikes but WOT A FREAKIN' BLAST this is to ride! Anybody from my area that wants to cruise, feel free to hit me up. I'm also a local lead guitarist here and play quite a few clubs in NY! Hence the name "SillyFingaz"! lol. Oh BTW... any simple way of making the exhaust a little more "thunderous"? I hear drilling a couple holes in the baffles help...if there are any locals with the capabilities to help me on this one, it would surely be appreciated! ;)

Welcome to the site. I was a sport biker 8 years ago I had a gsxr750 for several til I sold it and hadn't rode a bike since I bought this one a couple of weeks ago and love it. So far I haven't seen anyone on this forum thats up close to you. A cheap drill and a half inch drill bit from you local walmart or any store like that will do the job. If you haven't done it yet go on youtube and do a search for stryker baffles and you will see a bunch of how to videos to drill it.

OK...caved in and drilled the holes! Yay! Sound difference is night and day. Would've loved to just completely remove the baffles but I go to work at 2AM and I don't think it would be a good idea as this is gonna be my main commute to and from work and don't need the neighbors calling the cops on me! LOL

Well..in 2 hours, I finally get my much needed "600 mile service" done.... for free :) Worked that one out when I purchased it.. They even admitted to me though it's basically an oil and filter deal with a lot of "inspection" and maybe a tightening here and there...which I've done myself....especially the clutch and the throttle cables... a few minor adjustments on them and they are finally staying within the range of my liking!

We'll have to get together sometime. I usually run with a bunch of guys out around the Philly area, though they're all on sportbikes. I met them all back when I had one myself. Just last month a bunch of us met up and had a long 10 hour ride and BBQ right outside Manhattan in Jersey.

Yeah... I'm still a far truck from Jersey and Manhattan as I reside all the way on the eastern end of Long Island.. I think it would take as much time just taking the ferry to conn. to get up your way than to ride to NJ!
