The brakes on the Stryker feel about the same as other Crusiers that I've ridden. I think its just the nature of what the bike is, its not going to stop like a sportbike. Bleeding the brakes may help as air may have entered the system or the fluid it-self has moisture in it.

I also found that my first reaction was, wow these brakes are not what I expected. I have been a sport/super bike rider for many years and after talking to some buddies about this, realised that I had developed the habit over the years of using very little back brake. I suppose it's because of the short wheel base of those bikes and how easy the weight comes off the back when grabbing the front brakes and the back wheel locking up that I have this habit. (From way before ABS.) They convinced me with the Stryker the weight would not shift so much so I could be way more agressive using the back brake now I'm starting to do that and I feel better about how it stops now but I would sure like to have a second disk on the front.

I would agree the rear is easy to lock up, but it will take practice. I started practicing panic stopping from about 25 mph, I am up to 55mph at this time.
I read an article a long time ago, that says you should be familiar with stopping the bike well at the speeds you ride. This bike is new to me so I am practicing.

There have been times that if a car would of been in front of me I would of been eating there bumper. I have squeezed the brakes pretty hard a number of time and I have yet to lock them up. I didn't know if it was just the Stryker in general, but now I am starting to wonder if its just mine.

Hate to say it but it sounds like it may be yours, either bleed the breaks or have your mechanics check it out. I have locked up both front and rear (unfortunately at the same time) RI drivers kind of suck ...... a lot. In fact I think we are still rated the worst drivers in the US by Insurance companies.

Squeeze Harder... I got into an accident with the stryker. I ate the bumper of a truck. it was 75 mph on the LA freeway when he decided to stop and I was looking down at the gas gauge. With reaction time and stopping time I knew it wasn't going to be pretty so at the last second of panic breaking I locked up the front wheel that way it would slide the front out and I would hit the bumper and not go over the tail gate. It left a good 15 foot skid. From about 75 mph I was able to get her down to 25 or so before I hit.

Personal I think if I had been on my street bike I would have stopped. but that's a way better brake system and a lighter bike. Also if I had about another 25 feet it would have good.

The stryker brakes seem to me to have a bit of sponginess to them that would probably benefit from some SS braided brake lines.
