I've had the bike six weeks and already done a fair amount. Still no license plate...

- removed stickers and badges first or second night
- hacksawed the rear sub fender, put in black lay-down license bracket, LED frame, and show chrome bullet marker lights for rear signals. The signals aren't made anymore (salvaged them off my crashed vstar 1100 - ignore the dust, I live on a dirt road):

Plastidip fender braces, pulley cover and speedo cover. I learned quickly that plastidip works best with lightly applied but heavy individual coats. It seems to run together leaving a smooth finish that way:

Air box mod. I tried hard to find something that wouldn't stick out as far. Picked the K&N rc-9500 (IIRC) as it is offset and only 2 3/4 inches minus the flange. The offset allowed me to move the MAF bracket up more and interfere with the air flow less.

When I got the filter it was embossed with the K&N logo - which disappointed me. I went hunting and found a Yamaha logo emblem for $12 on eBay (belongs to a Yamaha golf cart). Put it on with double sided tape and plastidipped it. Notice the attach screws are below the top two MAF bolts:

Put the crankcase vent up behind the rear jug. Got it off amazon for $5. Had to plastidip it too. Used 1/2 inch ID clear vinyl tube to save the stock tube. It didn't handle the bend well with the heat and folded at the bend. I am looking for a spring to put inside it and keep it open through the bend:

Windshield I salvaged off the vstar. It's a national cycle streetshield EX. I had to sand out some scratches with 600 sand paper, rubbing compound and then buff it. I think it looks pretty good for a windshield on a chopper. The airflow hits me right above the eyes (got bugs all over my helmet visor). About as good as it is gonna get without messing with the look of the bike.

Got my pipes installed. Man, I have missed that sound. Bike ran like a bat outta **** even on stock fuel processor. Some popping but really not bad.

Then I installed the PowrPro. Cleaned up most of the popping and helped it run a bit cooler (richer) but that's about it. Jury's still out on whether it is worth the money.

Installed the wolo big bad max. It's a single frequency version of the bad boy. Showed my adult kids separately and they both jumped - literally - when they heard it. That was definitely worth the money.

Got my Drag Specialties tach yesterday. I really like these - had one on my 1100.

Trying to mount stuff on these bars is a PITA! I had to dremel off the nub for the wire clip (i don't know why they don't use wire ties) to make room for the U bracket, then cut down a heavy steel ell bracket I had to move it up higher. Getting it high enough meant carving off the corner of the speedo cover.

Now I have to finish wiring it...

Got my PU solo seat a while back but couldn't stomach the Yamaha fender rack. Decided to try an old-school look. After much hunting I settled on a Motherwell fender rack meant for Harley road kings. It worked out quite nicely. Had to drill a hole in the fender but the hole is covered by the stock seat if I ever decide to go back to stock.

very nice how hard was it to wire in the tach?
Tach wiring got interesting when the tach adapter I bought failed. It would register correctly for about a second and then shut down. I ended up making my own tach adapter with a couple of diodes and resistors. Cost less than $5. I found the recipe on the vstar 1300 forum.

I just ordered a red LED bulb for the tach off of eBay. Should be here soon and then it will be an even better match to the speedo.

My Tach is a Baron and it and the adaptor it came with have been on bike for 2 years now w/no problems. It's really cool you know how to make an adaptor youself. I'm not good with electronics.
