It looks like there is just 3 bolts for the bracket and 1 bolt for the exhaust clamp where the two pipes from the motor join the mufflers. I just wanted to check so I didn't have anything hang up after I started. Almost looks too easy.

I have already drilled the 4 1/2" holes in each pipe. Just for kicks I wanted to see how loud it would be if I had the baffles completely removed from the mufflers, so I was just going to take off the mufflers completely to approximate the noise level.

Am I thinking correctly...or would the CAT still reduce the volume if that was left in?

Pretty loud with baffles out and currently running with out muffler but yep three bolts and one clamp and she will slide right out. But the baffles don't come out easy and doesn't sound nothing like the same with muffler off and baffles completely removed

Thanks! I knew that removing the baffles was a pain...I was just thinking that if I did like the sound, then maybe someone would have some mufflers laying around that they already removed the baffles before going to aftermarket, and maybe I could get those cheap, and possibly avoid removing the baffles myself.

The Cat is in the front of the mufflers assembly and comes off with them when you take loose with the ring clamp loosened. Cat is a real bear to take out. Just get a slip-on muffler from Cobra and save yourself a lot of grief!

+1 :thumb: ...and taking the baffle out of the slip-on is super easy. BTW, the slip-on goes on the same way the stock pipes come off...super easy :)

Did I mention it's super easy???

BTW, the baffles are welded on the stock pipes, so it goes even double for getting a slip-on.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually prefer the look of the stock mufflers over the Cobra slip-on or any other aftermarket exhaust that I have seen so far.
I also like the look of the stock pipes. Was one of the reasons I bought the bike. I just got so far into Modding that I am trying different things. I still have my stock Cat gutted-drilled out muffler assembly. I even bought an extra "virgin" complete exhaust system 2 years ago on Ebay for 35.00 + shipping. Never know-I may someday want to put one of them back on.

Same here..loved the looks of the stock pipes....and that was one of the first things I changed. I'm sure as money allows, the slip-on won't be the last exhaust I buy, or intake, or any other part. (mirrors, chins, lights etc). Have a brand new backrest with a mustang pad, had it on.....took it off .
Someday I should have enough parts on my shelf that I can change the look of my bike every week
