just curious to see what's the farthest folks have gone once the low fuel light comes on. I've gone 14 miles but really have no clue as to how far i could go before I'm SOL

I've made 20, easy. I've pushed it to 30 too. But I HAVE run out of gas on the Stryker (I don't remember how far it was on the F-trip meter). It's pretty easy to push if you get on the side of it. LOL
dang man! i seem to recall hearing someone say they've gone 40 but that sounds pretty out there to me.

i'm avg 44-48mpg, and have gone 42 on the light, but that was on the highway just constant cruising at about 75mph. i also think my light is coming on early though cause i have yet to put more than 3.5gal in her. got 55mpg on a trip over the summer.

This post was on here before in the early beginnings. During that post someone had mentioned that it is not good practice to try and run your tank low, because the gas actually performs a cooling fuction as well. So when you run dry the heat of the motor actually makes the bike run hotter. Can't remember who posted this, but it made sense.

about 25 miles is as far as you want to push it with normal driving non aggressive driving For the 90% of people on here i wouldn't push it past 20. If you run the tank dry you can overheat the pump causing it to fail sooner.

How much fuel are we suppose to have when the low light indicator comes on? I know that the odometer switches to the fuel indicator at 1.3 gallons, but not sure how much is suppose to be there when the low indicator comes on. I originally thought it was .5 gallon but last time i filled up pretty much when the light came on and only pumped 3.1 gallons.

I've hit low 20's multiple times but never pushed it. As far as engine cooling goes the bike will just shut off once out of gas with no cooling issues as long as your fluid levels are good. I actually have always replaced the standard coolant with an aftermarket performance coolant. Just a left over habit from my race days I guess, but bikes do actually run cooler with it.

On the same thought, how many MPG........?
Filled up yesterday............3.1gal. 123 miles===39.7
That's about what I'm getting. It's not the greatest at fuel mileage for sure.

He's talking about the fuel pump overheating not the motor

My girlfriend used to drive her mustang on empty really works the fuel pump hers burned out and cost $600
In addition to the pump overheating it will also suck up trash that accumulates at the bottom of the fuel tank throughout the years...terrible for the engine

I think 40 mpg is a good average for every one to go on, but the Sryker is capable of Giving you real good mpg performance or great fun and high speed performance. But not both. I've got a vast difference in mpg depending on how I ride her and riding conditions. On a weekend 400+ mile ride following my wife on our first ride after she dumped her V Star 950 she was riding a bit slow and consciously on open highway and mountain roads. I averaged 52 mpg putting at almost an idle through all gears even 5th when I got past 50 mph lol. And on a 250 mile ride on highway at between 50 and 60 I got 48 mpg and riding her like I like I got 38 mpg and as soon as she is broke in all the way I will post what she gives when I really ride her. I'm thinking about 25 mpg maybe.? Any one else know? The Styker is just like a good woman you take care of her and she will give you what you want.
