I know in theory you can get 40 mpg and a 4 gallon tank so in a perfect world - 160 miles per tank. But how many miles do you really get per tank? I've been dropping down to one bar on the fuel display at about 105-110 miles. I've been filling up when she drops to one bar because I have no idea how far I can really push her safely. Is 130 miles per tank a reasonable expectation? Last think I want to do is end up stranded on the side of the road.

I've rode as far as 11 miles on the reserve trip, but then I got to a as station and didn't wanted to get stranded. That's as far as I've tried the reserve. I think I get about 130 also

I drop the 1st square at 34 miles... second at 62 miles... 3rd at 95... F trip starts at around 127... pushed 19 miles once... so it appears I can go to around 145 or so... all these are approx. truth be known... I got way better MPG before the Mods.... BUT... I would not trade the mods I did for the better MPG's.... I love how much better the bike is with them!!!

I got 200 miles one time but it was an exercise in patients following my wife the day after she dump her bike. We put her bike back together and took off for a 2 day 400 mile ride and she was ridding very slow. So I was at an idle through all gears most of the the time and coasting down hills. This was mountain roads rarely ever hitting 55 mph and most of the time between 40 and 55 mph. I don't recall how many miles we traveled after my low fuel light cam on but it probobly was about 15. So we did the math and it came out to almost 50 mpg. Never have got that much ever again. But average 40 to 45 mpg on freeway and 35 to 40 most other riding but I have got as little 28 mpg when I play hard lol. The other day got 25 miles on the low fuel light. but only had total 106 miles because most of the ride was mountains with steep grades and a lot of twisties that kept me in 2nd and 3rd gear most of the way.

I get about 120 to 140 miles before the gas light comes on. My mpg varies a lot, when I ride by myself I get about 40mpg but with my wife or son riding with me I get a consistent 50mpg. I’m not aggressive when they want to ride, but by myself I let it eat at times.

I'm not sure I fill mine up enough. Most of my riding is in town, so a lot of stop and goes. When the red light comes on, i fill it less than 3 galons and the gas stops from the pump. Do you over fill from that point? I typically get red light for gas around 90 miles....

With some of your numbers, i'm a bit concerned now.... but i'm kind of thinking it's due to a lot (80%) of the time being stop / go driving every day.

Don't be concerned. I am exactly like you. 80% city driving I get the single gas bar between 80-90 miles and the gas light shortly thereafter. Everytime I gas up, it's either just shy of 3 gallons or barely just over it. These other folks are mostly highway drivers so of course their numbers are going to look better than ours. Click my little gas mileage icon below and check out my fuel up history.

Thank you! I'm sure Over Drive 5th gear helps a ton... i typically don't even hit 4th gear most days.

just to see what kind of mileage i can expect on my trip next week i hopped on the interstate with a full tank and rode about 75 miles south and back and the lof fuel tripometer kicked on at 139, i was was only 8 miles from my exit so i took the chance, i got there easily and filled up at 147 and it took 3.5 gallons to fill her up so i think i'll be able to reasonably expect 40-44 mpgs for my trip. It was a beautiful day and i ran about 75 most of the way so i'm thinking it may do a little better as i doubt we'll run those speeds the whole way.

My gas light used to always kick on at 119 miles without fail. A month or so back I blew the blinker fuse a couple of times while working on my kawi light because I forgot to remove the negative battery cable. I replaced the fuses and everything works great. Now for some reason ever since I blew that fuse my gas light comes on at 129 every time???

Yes if you are riding around at 20 to 35 mph you wont get much more than 100 miles per tank
