ok so i am new to fuel injected bikes and my question is: how full do you fill the tank? Is it ok to fill it past the little strainer? and could you damige the the fuel systum by putting to much fuel in?
See in my truck i fill it till it stops then check oil, bug juice, empty out any trash and then put about another gallon in it. With my old bike i filled it up till it was about a inch away from the top.

Just fill till it clicks off. Others have posted about filling when upright etc. to get more gas in there which is fine but the cap is vented so if you have to put her on the kickstand and haven't used that "extra" fuel I'm thinking it'll spill out the vent.

There are a lot of threads on how much they take etc. My .02: The 1/4 tank indicator and low fuel light indicators should be close from bike to bike but they will vary. I have gotten 20 miles on the count-up/low fuel light and didn't put more than 3.5ish in the tank so I had more to go. That said the fuel pump is cooled by the gas and running dry isn't good for it plus the bike weighs a good amount to push.

Many people fuel up around 130 which is also probably a nice time to stretch your legs. Enjoy the bike. If you ride with other people who have bigger tanks just get used to being ridiculed for being the reason they have to keep stopping

I sit on the bike holding it upright and fill to the "strainer" the OP is referring to. I've never had an issue with overfilling.
I sit on it with it on the stand and when the nozzle clicks off, I stand it upright and usually get another .25 to .3 gallons. Never had an issue with overfilling either.

Ok thanks, I didn't know if filling past the strainer would hurt the fuel pump or not

On the side stand, always fill it as far past the screen as possible. Live 30 miles from the closest gas station up in the mountains so never had a problem with it being to full and setting in the sun. Been doing tha for two years now.:thumb:
