How to remove Krylon paint from chromed parts

1575 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  quantumrider
I painted my speedo cover and ignition cover and engine covers with Krylon paint and thinking I'd like to go back to the chrome look on some of them. I didn't sand or prime them, just sprayed the paint on. I remember reading a thread that mentioned something that would remove (dissolve) the paint without damaging the chrome but I can't find the thread. Anyone know what it is? Thanks

For Chrome over plastic I would I would try enamel reducer & don't rub too hard.

For Chrome over metal I would use lacquer thinner.

Lacquer thinner is way more aggressive than enamel reducer so it will attack the plastic sooner. Keep in mind even enamel reducer can damage the plastic if used too agressively.
