Well, after having the bike for just over 2 weeks I've already ordered a new Mustang seat. Stock seat isn't HORRIBLE, but as I use this for my daily commuter I figure a better seat would make it that much more enjoyable (~25 mile one way) and I remember on my last bike (VTX 1300C) how much difference an Ultimate seat made. I'm also a shorty (5'6") and moving me closer to the handlebars would only make the bike fit me even better!

If anyone else is looking for one, I ended up ordering mine from http://www.bigbadpowersports.com/ for $437 (Please tell me this was a good price...).

Thanks for everyone past and present who chimed in with this seat giving positive feedback. I'll add my feedback to the list when it arrives!

which one are you going to order? the one with the backrest or without? I've been toying with this idea because my story is similar to yours. I take my bike to work whenever I'm able to and its about 25miles one way. I too am fairly short at 5'8" and find at times it may be more beneficial to be closer to the bars. let me know how it feels once you get it, I'm having a hard time parting with the money

I paid $416 for my Mustang Two-Piece Seat -Wide Vintage but that was almost a year ago. It does push your forward about 1". The ride is better than factory. Since I'm 5' 10" my controls needed to be move forward 3" to give my legs a better angle. My wife really likes the Mustang seat, way more padding than stock.

Fuzzystump, Let me give you a word of warning. I just recieved the Mustang two piece seat and it sits you about an inch or two higher than stock. I had my bike lowered with the PCS links at 1" and was able to flat foot the bike. After I installed the mustang two piece set I was touching with my toes. I had to lower the PCS down to the 2" drop to get flat footed again which really ruins my idea of using the L&M Lowering spring I purchased and getting a 240. Looks like I will have to stick with the PCS links at the 2" drop and also the stock tire size to remain flat footed now, which really bites. Oh well looks like I will have a lowering spring up for grabs. ;)

and to add one more thing, I dont find that the mustang is any more comfortable than the stock. After putting on about 150 miles with the Mustang seat I can say for me, the stocker was more comfortable but for my wife, well its the mustang for her hands down. I just hope that it is just breaking in and will become better otherwise I completely wasted my money. Just for reference I amd 5'7"

Well if you dont mind being on your toes then you should be fine, I like being flat footed and that is why my bike is lowered 1" already. The seat just changed too many dynamics for me, higher up and forward enough so that my legs were right against the back corners of the tank. Also seemed like I had no real movement on the seat to change my position and my rear was hurting after 60 miles. Most love this seat and it is most likely just me but everyone is different and for me, Well I got an RMA and the seat will be on its way back to Mustang tomorrow. Didn't spend $600 to be uncomfortable. For me the Stock seat is very comfy, but the passenger portion leaves alot to be desired. I am going to try the gel pad for my 100 Lbs. wife, I hope that works for her cause after this experience, I dont even really want another seat at all. I wish you luck and hope it works well for you.

Get her an Air Hawk
Um...stupid question, but what's an Air Hawk (I didn't google it yet). Do they make Stryker seats? I ask because I too am looking for a softer replacement, but not one that lifts or pushes...so even when I do check it out, is it something you use?

Thanks StrykenShane, That makes alot of sense and one of the reasons I love this forum so much. There many people with diffent experiences that you can draw upon.

Fuzzystump, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I know I am in a minority about this seat so more than likely it will work out fine for you. Let us know how goes it once you get it and have a chance to test ride it.
