A couple of days ago my brother-in-law, my dad, the chief of police and I went on a long ride up around one of the finger lakes. My brother in law has a 2001 BMW KT1200GT, the chief has a custom Honda 1900, and my dad has my old bike 2005 Suzuki M50. We started at my house then drove up to my fathers to meet him and drove up one side of the lake to Geneva, NY for lunch (dam good chicken wings!). We went up to the top of the lake and back down the other side heading back into Watkins Glen. We made a left going a back way toward Ithaca and my dad and I were talking over our Scala Rider G9 headsets. I asked my dad if he wanted to have a little fun thinking he would say no because the chief of police was with us, lol. To my amazement he said what do you have in mind. I said "this is probably the only time in your life you can pass a cop doing 100mph and get away with it"...I pulled out into the other lane and hammered it looking in my mirror to see my dad right on my ass, lol. We blew past my brother in law and the chief and I could hear my dad making noise in the intercom. He has had 3 heart attacks over the years so I wasn't sure if he was ok, I said are you ok? He starts laughing his ass off and says "dam that was fun!, I can't believe we just did that.". I have to say over the years my father and I never talked much or did awhole lot of things together but buying a motorcycle and being able to ride with my father has been the greatest thing to happen to me. Our ride lasted about 175 miles and 4 hours, my dad followed behind me and lent tips to my riding skills you can't go wrong listening to someone who has been riding over 40 years...besides if I didn't listen I might have got a whooping, lol. Just thought I would share with you all.

That's a great story man! Awesome that motorcycles are bringing you and your dad closer together. My dad and I share the same passion for bikes.

Fantastic story, you should cherish the time you have left with your dad because you will only have one dad in your life. Make every moment count because you never know when it will be your last. Thanks for sharing this special moment with us...

There's something special about the bonds shared in a father son relationship. Heck several of my interests and hobbies come directly from my dad’s influence on me. Motorcycles, hunting/fishing, camping, classic rock music...beer

I sure will miss him when he’s gone. I probably don't tell him quite as often as i should but I cherish the time we have together and I'm thankful I only live a couple streets over from my folks.

I can only imagine the feelings you guys are talking about. My dad passes away when I was 5. Can't say it was harder not having a dad, as I have nothing to compare it to. I sure do miss him though, and still get teary eyed to this day thinking about it. Count your blessings.. enjoy your family while you can. Remember them always...

Met one of the guys I worked with yesterday. 81Years old and now riding a BMW trike. He just hit 500,000 miles in his BMW club.
Good for him, that's how I want to be. Wait, 81 and he is still working! What the ****?
