Going to buy a used 2011 Stryker a few hours away from here. The bike has around 1500 miles and has barely been ridden.

What should I look out for generally and specifically (to the stryker)?

Check for any loose bolts. There are some bolts that they do not use lock tight on and maybe missed using lock tight. I found two or three if I remember correctly, one was on the lower belt guard.
Make sure the oil and filter was changed at 600 miles. Also check the drive belt tension.

Yes, Check the belt tension. It should ride and feel brand new. Pull the cover where the 02 sensor is and see if they made the 02 mod. If they did , you have to think the previous owner may have done something wrong modding. (Maybe they didn't) but lets assume they did. What guarantee's is the dealer going to give you on paper.

I picked the bike up about a week ago. I was thinking of getting it earlier but wanted to be 100% prepared and not rushed since I still had to find a good way of moving the money, insurance, etc...

Pretty happy but I do notice you have to take turns much more slowly than my other bike (650 Vstar classic) or maybe I'll just have to get more used to it.

First plans: back rest, luggage rack, dog carrier so my dog can go out riding with me. Next: windshield, lowering, brake/turn lights.

I have been riding v-star 950 for two years and Toby just bought me my stryker. I make him go on ahead of me on our roads right now so I can watch how he corners. The stryker corners well but you have to start wider so you can follow your line into the inside of the corner without having to slow down too much... I have plenty of twisties to practice on lol and 750 miles on my new bike now. I have had the bike a week ;)
Happy riding! :D

You go girl! I understand learning the twisties, since we just got back from Stryker/Raider Rally in NC. Was a little timid on the twisties, but by end of the week and after riding the Tail of the Dragon twice, was loving it. Can't wait to go back next year.

Awesome! =)
I want to do tail of the dragon someday lol, out here we have the dragon's body, and his tail, and all of his little hatchlings and their tails too...
going on 15k miles on these twisty roads.
They JUST paved with actual blacktop our favorite run from our house, down the back of the mountain to ruth lake... Ever since Toby put me on my stryker he says I have been riding MUCH better. It is just such a solid bike to take into these turns, I don't look at my speedo but Toby says I have been clocking 40 mph and better on some of these corners >.>
I wouldn't know ;) I don't dare take my eyes off the road heheh

Well he told me yesterday that now he feels that the 950 may have been 'holding me back'. He thought before I needed more confidence and more practice in rough conditions to gain that confidence. Now he has said that all I needed was a bike that could really perform to my expectations. Basically, when I want it to GO, it does, and when I want it to belly down into a deep sharp turn, it does that too.
He says all I need to practice on now is getting my line right for the really sharp curves we have here, and to do this I make him go on ahead so I can watch just how he does it. Practice and seat time! gimme more! hehe

I think the cat's wonder what it would be like lol but the little dog has gone with us many times but we need a new carrier.

She is still looking only two turns ahead, coming out of the 2nd turn two deep for the 3rd, having to brake into the 3rrd turn. Planing your line 3 to 5 turns ahead when you can see that far. Problem we have up here is trees and cliffs cut off your view, also blind curves, although rare to see another vehicle when you do they usually are taking more than their half out of the road. They also seam to think no one else is on the road especially a motorcycle when it cold:mad:

After a week and riding every day it seems right turns can be much quicker than left turns, especially when I lean further.

I don't ride my bikes hard but I have scraped the pegs on my last bike more than a few times.

I think the cat's wonder what it would be like lol but the little dog has gone with us many times but we need a new carrier.
I love my little guy so he's definitely going with me. I usually take him everywhere I can. He's been on my last bike and loved it.
