Hey Gang. I'm not one to get on here and piss and moan about everything wrong in the world today but I have to share this.

Because I added a hypercharger and Cobra Dragster pipes to the Stryker, I had to also get a power commander. When you order one and install it yourself, it does not have a program on it other than stock. So what do you do? You call PC and tell them what you have done to your Stryker and they email you a map to upload into the PC. Sounds simple right? WRONG!!!

I did that very same process but once I got in touch with PC customer service, they told me that he could not send me a map because one does not exsist for my add on's. Pipes and hypercharger are not an uncommon add on so I dont get why the **** they couldn't just write a program that would suffice. Never the less, the PC customer service guy told me the only map available that came close to what I had was a map using the air spike intake and Cobra Swepts pipes. I figured "what the ****" hypercharger and air spike work just about the same and open pipes are pretty much the same so that might work. Even the guy at PC said it is so close that there shouldn't be any issues. So we did it and all was well....until....

A few weeks ago the bike started cutting out at normal highway speeds. Not during accel or decel but only at a steady constant throttle. Kind of like a hiccup and was doing it quite often so I decided to head for the shop. The first thing we did was hit the dyno. This shop is a Power Commander APPROVED dyno center and on the first pull, the dyno guy shuts off the bike and comes and gets me, drags me into the dyno booth, and shows me the read out on the screen. The bike is waaaayyyyy to lean. And had I not dealt with it in time, would have lead to some real problems. We spent another 2.5 hours on the dyno and by 6 pm last night I had a perfect air/fuel mixture, timing adjusted properly, and an additional 4.6 horses.....Now I know almost 5 horses dont sound like much but beleive me, I can tell.

Guys listen, At this point I'm not even sure if I wrote this as a way to inform you or just so I could ***** about PC not giving a **** about what maps they are passing off as acceptable, but if you take anything away from this, let it be a lesson. Be mindful of companies and their customer service practices. Especially when it could end up costing you thousands. And if your story is anything like mine, For the love of God, get your ass to the dyno machine.

I kick myself in the ass all the time for not getting the Cobra Powerpro but like we all do, I have one of those know it all "friends" who said Power Commander was the greatest thing since sliced bread....It is what it is I guess.

When the time comes, I will probably go with a PC, but I will be getting the autotune as well. Then I never have to worry about re-tuning it when changing anything.
Got bad news for you
A member here got it and then he discovered that he must use the stock and pc's oxygen sensor in the same time, and so he had to make a new hole in his exhaust

I'm using the same map. Only difference between our setups is I'm using a cobra powerflo. Bike seems to be running fine so far. I've only put about 900 miles on it so far.

I plan on putting it on the dyno. Only found one place in my area that does it. And I was told two different prices from them. One when I called and the other when I emailed them.

What were you charged to get it tuned in Jeremy?

No bad news, I completely expected that. I have some good connections that can weld a bung on for me quick and cheap. Thanks for looking out though.

Nate, I paid $275 for the dyno but there is one on every street corner here in Houston so they keep their cost low. I've seen dyno in some places that only have 1 or 2 in the city charge as much as $450.

Seems like a lot of frustration and expense for a bike that has plenty of power in the stock form. If you gotta have more power, why not try the v-rod or Diavel or v-Max ? Hope you are happy with the results. No disrespect intended. :)

Because once you add pipes and air breather, you have to have a fuel tuner to get the air/fuel mixture correct.

I agree. It's a lot of cash to dole out, but a necessary evil if you're doing exhaust/ intake changes. I guess I'm blessed in that I LOVE the stock pipes. To me, they add personality to the bike, and it's got more than enough power from the factory. That said, I respect anyone's decision to mod their bikes to make them their own. ****, I've done enough airflow changes to my cars to know that it just becomes addictive at a certain point. :)

ADDICTION is the perfect word. I agree the bike is nice right off the showroom floor but mod-ing it makes it yours. The V-max is not comfortable to me and I'd rather push my Yamaha than stink up my garage with a Harley V-rod.....No disrespect ;)

As mentioned before this is a result of the ECU's closed loop a.k.a. emmisions control. I'm for saving the environment but when ****e like this happens ... So the next time you see a tree hugger kick him in the balls or punch her in the boob! :)

emissions controls.. what’s that? :p

When I had my mods installed & dyno tuned part of the work order said “lightening the bike”
I asked what that was and it was removing the emissions stuff. Guess they didn’t want to put that in writing.

Ya mikoloe, sdsting is one of the few that I mentioned in the other threads about processor and auto tuners that had his mods installed professionally and mapped to his to his bike and, so far, as far as I know he has had no problems. Been hoping he would chime in with his 2 cents on the subject but not sure if he has followed the other threads.
