Went to order my V&H twin slash pipes and a power commander from indysuperbikes. They had competitive prices on the pipes and the best price out there for the PCV. The pipes page said to use code VH at checkout - so I did. Got another $44 off for that.

Total price: $701 shipped. They are back ordered two weeks but if you don't mind the wait, the price can't be beat!

RETRACTION:

Well, after almost a week I asked for an update. They changed the delivery on the pipes to July 12th. The PCV was still "two weeks". I asked what was going on (why it is till two weeks nearly a week later) and they said I did not reply to the notice of them taking two weeks so they did not order them.

I told them to cancel the pipes as I did not want to wait a month and have them slip the delivery again. I also asked why they took my money if they were not going to order the PCV right away. The guy actually said "we don't order something we can't sell without the money". When I explained that back order is not the same as on-demand ordering he didn't want to discuss it.

He then refused to honor the discount on the PCV cause I wasn't ordering the pipes. I cancelled the whole order.

Bottom line: they are not what is called a "stocking dealer". i.e. they do not stock these parts. That puts them (and you) at the mercy of the delivery backlog of the stocking dealer they buy from. I now understand why the seemingly good deal: they are not actually providing any value added. They are simply playing middlemen and making money on the transaction without any risk.

Be wary of ordering these kinds of things from them. If they do not stock the part they will generally not be able to give you any kind of delivery promise (which they would not do for me). You could end up waiting indefinitely.

P.S.

In looking around after canceling the order I realized the cobra swept speedsters have a crossover port. That would go a long way toward explaining why the V&H twin slash have low end chugging problems with the powrpro and the cobra swepts do not. I bought black cobra swepts from denniskirk and they will be here Tuesday.

Glad it all worked out in the end, but still what a P.I.T.A.! When I bought my bike it already had the V&H Twin slash, but I would gladly trade them for the Cobra Swepts. Especially to eliminate all that low end problems!

Wow... I picked up my pipes and Cobra Auto Tuner through them a couple months ago and everything was great. I had my parts within 3 days and paid right around $701. I had no issues at all.... Sucks you had a bad experience.

WEll, I dont think of it as a bad experience, I think of it as a money experience.

I have raced and beat these Harleys. Im sure I could have been beat but I think these guys are scared to open it up.

Street bob 1 time
night train 1 time
streetglide 3 times he was loaded and wanted to be sure I guess.
crossbones 1 time
softail delux and custom 1 time each

Yeah, I was somewhat tentative about the twin slash but let the low price sway me. I thought I saw a post somewhere here where everyone was confirming no crossover port in the cobras. On that basis I figured the cobras and V&H were roughly the same so went with the low price.

After the Indy deal went sour I saw the nice detailed pics at denniskirk (where the crossover is clearly visible) and jumped back on the cobra wagon. I may well go with the PowrPro now and keep it all in the family.

Gotta admit, if you are willing to deal with the hassle, indysuperbikes has the best price on PCVs (by almost $100) out there. I am easily pissed off by such things though. Then I go ride to cool down!

Oops...

Lack of one is not a bad thing, it's just missing that one extra feature.

I honestly do not know the science behind it other than the fact that a two-into-one exhaust produces the best power improvement - better than a two-into-two. The crossover port allows a two-into-two to gain some of the advantage of a two-into-one.

That advantage is typically better low to midrange power.

Performance cars benefit from it also. Tends to balance out the backpressure in all cylinders.

BTW, indysuperbikes musta been watching this thread. They raised the price on the PCV yesterday from $268 to $339. They are now right in the price range everyone else is quoting.

Some manufacturers won't let vendors sell below a certain price. I wonder if the manufacturer got wind of their price, and made them raise it.
