Im a stickler when it comes to my bike's speedo accuracy. I had speedo healers on just about every bike I owned since they came out. I took the one off my Roadliner S since its on consignment and it fitted to my Stryker just fine. I hooked up my GPS and after about 15 tries I got the setting with new tires and stock gearing . Set it to neg, -7.0. This means the speedo was 7% to high of a reading. Now im dead on with my gps at 70MPH which is good enough for me.Tried a couple of 90MPH runs and still dead accurate with my gps. Now the only thing is that the ODO reading is showing .7 tenths slower every 10 miles I traveled with my gps. Another words, my gps said I just traveled 10 miles but my Stryker said I only went 9.3 miles. Guess its a good thing haveing less miles logged onto the speedo.LOL. This is about rite with most of my old bikes with stock gearing. So for every 100 miles I traveled I just add 7 miles to figure out correct gas mileage. For me its no big deal. Ive been doing it for many years using the speedo healers. They are about $114.00 on ebay if any one wants one. Im pretty sure im going to do the front pulley mod as the Stryker has highway gearing and I live in the mountians where I mostly ride and ill definitly need the speedo healer for that correction.

Thanks for the post up Yammyboy. I looked into these last year and wasn't sure they'd work for us. I'm interested in how it hooks up. Is it just a Yamaha model/plug or is it a Stryker specific model? Thanks in advance.

Im running stock tires as I only have 360 miles on my bike so far, blame that on this relentless friggin rain:yuck:. The new style speedo healer is a snap in breeze. You just unplug the WHITE tri oval connector that is next to the fuse panel under the seat inside the rubber boot and connect the speedo healer in line with those. There is another long harness on the speedo healer that is a little red button that you can install any where on the bike and its for checking your last highest top speed. Just tap the button either running or stopped with the ingnition switch on and it will swoop to the highest speed you have done then goes back to zero on the speedo but saves it in the speedo healer. I loved when people would ask me on my Busa or R1 how fast have you been. I go, lets see, so I press on the red button and the speedo needle pins the 180MPH speedo,:D. priceless. I have my button mounted next to the clutch handle. As far as setting the speedo healer when you get one give me a post and if any one gets confused with the directions ill run you thru it step by step. Its all digital. The old ones had little tiny switches. I believe the one part number for the Yamaha speedo healer fits just about every model since at least 1998.;)

Here is a used one on ebay, it says for a R6,R1, but im pretty sure it will fit all style Yamahas from at least 1998.

Great, Just when I thought I had all the mods for this bike figured out and either already ON the bike or on a list of things to DO to it I run across another item that I simply must have!

This one is now on the long list!!!
(Thanks though, I didn't know it was possible to fix the speedo):thumb:

Now to sell something else for funds!

LOL. Well back years ago the speedo's were run off the front wheel, via a cable and stayed the same mph no matter what sprocked changes you made.. Now they are run from the transmission gear box. My sport bikes at high speed were off by as much as 13 mph well over 100mph. So when you hear stories of sport bike guys saying they just did 170 or so mph, just ask them if they have a speedo correcdomondo on their bikes? If they answer no, then they weren't really going that indicated 170+ mph.

I would love to be able to correct my speedo, it is 4 tenths of a mile off, it consistently reads 4.5 to 5 miles per 100 miles more then toby's. His is closer to being accurate since he put that 240 on his bike. We do the same rides, roads, and miles and mine will show more miles on the trip meter then his. My MPH dial is also off, it reads 4 to 5 mph faster then I am actually going.

does the speedo healer thing correct the odometer as well as the speedometer?
Or does it just correct your 'indicated MPH' ?

The speedo healer corrects the speedo but then your odo meter will be wrong. If you have a gps hooked up to your bike you keep Adjusting it so that they read the same at 60-70MPH. What I learned is that with the stock 210 tire and gearing its set at neg - 7.0 and with the stock 210 tire and the 30tooth pulley its set at neg -9.5. Then every 20 miles you travel just add 1 extra mile that you really went. I traveled 100 miles today on my ODO but my GPS said I went 105.1 miles. I hope that helps:nod:.

Hey Yammy, I got one of these units on the way. Is the coupling for the speedo under the left side cover? I haven't gone searching yet. Just thought I'd be lazy and ask instead. :thumb:

Its located on the left side of the bike under the seat. Its a white triangle plug. All the Yamahas are the same since at least 1998. Thats all there is to it. I hope to find a long strech of road tomoro and try a top end run?

I used to use Speedohealer, but I switched to 12 o'clock labs speed corrector. Smaller, does the same stuff, and cheaper. http://www.motomummy.com/chain-kits-with-steel-front-and-rear-sprocket/12-oclocklabs-speedodrd/?gclid=CLiX6fb9tLkCFdGd4AodGDEA0g

The correct model is Y1, typically can be had for $70 thru most vendors. This is a direct plug and play unit. Use a gps and compare your indicated speed with actual speed and then set + or - value as needed. I will probably never purchase the Speedohealer brand again simply for the cost and size difference.

GPS does not account for elevation changes just flat line distance traveled . I noticed this a few years ago . As I drive a semi truck and noticed big difference in mileage traveled escpecially in very hilly terrain .

I installed the 12 O’clockLabs SpeedoDRD Model Y-1 Version 3M today. How sweet is this? My GPS and Speedo were “dead on “. Thank you yammyboy & ryderjay for your posts. The set up was very easy after watching the video. Just yesterday I put a 240 on (already had a 30T pulley) and the difference was 3mph, GPS=57 and Speedo=60. Prior to that with the 210 it was 5mph difference. Elevation not an issue here in the plains. I set it to -5.0 and it’s right on. The hard part was trying to find the tri oval connector. Another benefit now is that my speedo reads less miles than the GPS @ today, GPS 52.9 and Speedo 50.3. Previously my speedo was showing more miles than I was actually riding. Overtime that could be quite a bit. I have been calculating my mpg using the GPS vs. speedo which was about a 3mpg difference. Now I only need my gps for a map vs. a dashboard. Thanks again all, I’m happy.
Don
