I bought the e-bay tailalmp the one for the R-1 baked the stock tail lamp in the oven at a low heat for 7 min. then pulled the lens off and repeat procedure and installed the stock lens with rtv silicone on the new taillamp , now no more loli pops its all in one love it , also wirred led bolt lights for my licenese plate into the tail light.
the zip ties on the lens are just until the glue dries.

ME LIKEY.......... Looks awesome.
funny when I mentioned doing this for people MONTHS ago, nobody was interested.

pssh.

$175 is ridiculous. For that much you can do it yourself, mess up, have to buy a new Factory tail light, and its still cheaper.

I was thinking like $100.
So clar2001....let me get this right. The R-1 cover fits the stock lamp exactly? If so, that's great. That will save me some $!!

Thats correct exact fit. the r-1 feabay cover was harder to revove I ended up cutting and breaking it off but that dident matter , the stock cover I baked @ 110 for 7 min, and with some force it poped right off.
The only difference is the color code on the wirring but its plug and play same harrness.
The brittness and turn signals are great it's so nice to have it all in one.
I did not like the rounded r-1 cover.
In the pic of the feabay light its looks a little rought around the edges I used a dremmil but that melted the plastic a little, but it cleaned up nice with a file.

I may have been mastaken on price I just looked again and it was $92.64 from http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2011-yamaha-stryker-xvs13cacb/o/m19964#sch680189. try doing a google search I know I saw them cheaper
FYI all . . . . .

Yamaha Sports Plaza lists the assmbly at $72.86
looks like this one would work without changing the lens , would only half to splice in the wirring harrness. and the lens is not pointing out rounded.

Hey clar, how did you mount the light to the fender? I can't tell from your pics.

Throw away the stock plastic housing, then using the stock mounting holes on the medal plate/bracket I mounted the taillight to that up side down,so the light screws to the medal plate cut down to only protect the light from road debree and 2 L brackets to hold it in place on the side stock bolt holes on the fender.
Basicly I layed the fender upside down on a towl and then fiquired out how I wanted the taillight to set then just modified the plate and L brackets to fit.

I tryed to take pics but its all black and does not photo well.

Is this the taillight you ended up using? if so could you show some pics?

No if you read back in this thread a little you will ses I used the stock lens and the one for a R-1 2003 I think it was , I did purchase the kawaski one just to have it on hand. It has the same mounting holes the lens is just a little differnt on the corners and you would need to splice the wirring harrness.
so to re-cap for the slow folks like myself... that Kawasaki light fits the Stryker without any other mods? then the yellow wires are for the turn signal and the others power the brake function? (or vice versa?)
