Looks pretty worn but the wear indicators would be the final say on that.
I'm cheap but unless there is decent tread left(indicated by the wear bars) and you don't ride in the rain I'd put the 240 on and go from there.

If nothing else, now would be a perfect time to try a burnout :whistle:

^I'd be surprised if a misaligned wheel put wear on the tire way out there. That's putting the bike in a 30° lean. My bet is a lot of hard left turns.
He lives in El Paso TX - doubt there's that many hard left turns - all he has to do is measure from the center of the swing arm bolt to the center of the axle bolt to check
