I am debating on my next mod and am thinking of going down the air-intake route. Any opinions on which is the better unit between the Kuryakyn Hypercharger and the Cobra PowerFlo air intake? Both run for around $250 and I already have the Cobra Autotuner. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I went through this same decision several weeks ago. I was leaning towards the Kuryakn for a while. But as I read all the info on this site, it started to sound like several of the people who install it ended up disconnecting the hoses that open and close the intake and just leave them open. That bothered me.

People had only good things to say about the Cobra. So I went with it. The install was really easy. And the bike sounds AMAZING with it. It definitely adds some power (especially with the Autotuner installed).

I have had no, as in ZERO, problems with my hypercharger. I have not had to disconnect the vaccuum line and the flaps work exactly as they should. Not sure about performance comparison, but in my opinion the hypercharger looks way more stylish than the cobra. Just my .02

If you go with the Hyper you will need to purchace a adapter, which now makes them a different price. I'm looking for a direct bolt on and believe I will get the LA Choppers XXX.

I really like the look of this. How is this affected by a heavy dew morning or getting caught in the rain?

You don't have to be concerned. Many, many bikes have these on with no problems.

I have done both on my current Stryker and although the Cobra runs well, I absolutely love the look of the hyper charger on our bikes. At the end of the day it's a personal preference.

What about the standard hypercharger in black? Is this available? Does it still require the extra adapter?

Kuryakyn now seems to make the chrome version (#9424) that fits our Strykers - does this also require an extra adapter?

I would really prefer to get the black hypercharger - just trying to make sure I get all of the parts I need...
