First...Thank you Lord for looking out for me. Otherwise pretty much textbook accident. Young girl( probably not a day over sixteen) at the stop sign off a road to my right. I was doing about 45 and was keeping my eye on her while backing off the throttle " just in case". Sure enough, she looks right over me and makes her left turn right in front of me. Time slowed way down. I held a skid long enough to realize it was not gonna be enough and laid it down. The bike slid off into a ditch and I slid about 20-30 ft or so. I'm o.k. and she is o.k. My Stryker, that's another story. More on that in the future....A few things I would like to pass on though. This is my first bike with 1300 miles on it. I was wearing my military uniform which is long sleeve and about as sturdy as denim. If I had short sleeves or shorts on, I would have smoked em good. I had my helmet on...nuff said. I am very aware of the fact that this is a large portion of motorcycle accidents so I was anticipating this girl pulling out in front of me. I feel if I had not been, I would have T-boned her. Lastly, when I came to a stop I immediately rolled to the side of the road so I wouldnt get run over. I hope this never happens again or to anyone else, but reality is what it is. For those of you with even less experience than me just remember, it's not you you have to worry about, it's everybody else. Thank God I have seen that over and over, because it saved me today. Ride safe ya'll.

Man I'm so glad to hear you are ok, I saw your post and I see that baby pic and my heart dropped, the bike can be fixed, sometimes you can't, sounds like you really educated yourself on what to look for when riding and, almost every time i've been challenged while driving it was a teenage driver

I glad you are ok. You did the smart thing to lay it down. When I was younger, I did not and went over the bars and the car and was layed out in front ot said car, no fun and i walked away with minor brusies and scraps. but the bike was a loss.

Too many accidents lately on this forum. What's going on? Glad to hear you are ok. Something to be said for driving experience and reading the situation for anticipated dangers. Out of morbid curiosity did you talk to the driver as too why she proceeded into your path of travel? Did she claim not too see you or misjudge your speed?

Lately, this has been making me consider more and more those hi viz helmets and other outer wear.

Thank you Lord indeed.
Very happy to hear you came out okay. Bikes can be replaced.
Did the girl get charged?
She wasnt charged or even issued a citation, however...she will be reflected as the "at fault party" on the report, so hopefully my insurance wont be too angry.

Thankfully you are good, now get on the Guardian Bell thread and get in line, you might need two of them for a while once you remount & ride.
Can't argue with that.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and I'll post up when I get some info on repairs and stuff. If there is any justice, I hope somebody can overestimate and snatch me up a V&H or something

Glad to hear you are ok. Stuff happens so you always have to be ready as you just proved. Stock exhaust is over $1000 to replace so if you laid it down on the right side should be good to go. My son laid my bike down 3 weeks ago (right side) and did $9000 of cosmedic damage. I road over 200 miles on my Stryker after it was laid down waiting for the insurance to total it. I should have it back on the road next week with a custom paint job & Cobra Swepts. Only cost me $1600 to get her better that new. ;D

First off, glad to hear you are okay. I'm a paramedic and a nurse up in the rural mountains, so I've seen more than my share of jacked up people from MC accidents (and yet I still got a Stryker Lol) up to and including traumatic deaths.
I have a 55MPH one lane highway that has an oncoming left hand cutoff road just out of a sweeping turn. I have to admit my heart rate goes up a little riding through that 10 second part of my ride. That and hearing all the Stryker wrecks lately make are making me seriously consider a headlight modulator. Its not a fail safe, but at least it will make me a little more visible.
