I put on a Baron Big air kit and had to remove a small bracket that holds it in at the bottom. Now my bike is slowly leaking red fluid from the bolts that are circled in the picture. I obviously need some assistance as I am not the most mechanically inclided dude. Please help me out.

Thanks,

Matt

red fluid...hmm makes no sense...you sure about what you took off, because something isn't adding up...I don't think I ever remember yamaha using any red fluid anywhere on any bike I've ever worked on.

I'm stumped...maybe you can get a close up of where we are looking or someone please enlighten us all.

If you click on the picture in my post, I put circles around the two bolts that are leaking. I cannot tighten them anymore and I only notice it right after I start my bike. There is a small bracket that these two bolts hold in for the stock intake. Once you change it out, you have to take the bracket off which means you have to completely remove these two bolt and then re tighten them. I am sure the fluid is red, looks like transmission fluid from a car. It is not leaking bad and there was not gasket or rubber seal in them when I took them off. First question is what kind of fluid would be leaking especially from the one in the front because the back one has stopped. Next question is how big of an issue do I have on my hands here.

Thanks,

Matt

It is an active leak, i did not use lock tight on these specific bolts, I will take them back out, clean them and then see if I need to put lock tight on them. I am glad to hear that you have not had the same problems.

I put a cobra cold air intake on, removed those bolts and reinstalled with no leaks. Took the bike to the dealership yesterday for the first oil change and break-in tune up. Noticed a leak from the same front bolt you have circled when I got home. Not sure why? Cleaned the leak, checked the bolt, started the bike and let it run for a while, doesn't seam to be leaking now.

Same here, I put on the Powrflo and had no issues with leaks. I am guessing that the present red locktite on the bolt has mixed with a little engine fluid and has given you this leak. Most likely will "fester up" (Old Time Plumbers term there) over time and stop leaking as long as the bolt is tight.

I posted this long ago likewise and people on forum told me the leak was impossible. However what I did find out is that if you over oiled your filter and ran your bike. The oil from filter is red especially if you are using a k/n in your Barron. The drain will like and follow the bolts and gasket lines of the Stryker . Hoping this is your issue cause it's simple. Just wipe on and off

Short answer is that my problem is solved. As at least one of you pointed out......I never had a problem! It's oil coming off of the filter, must have been dipped too heavily. When it sits for a while, the oil collects and then I start it and it drips down. Seems to be less and less everyday so I will just clean it up until it stops. Thanks for all the help, I probably would have done something drastic otherwise!

Glad you got it figured out. Next time you clean that filter, ease up on the oiling. You only need just enough to coat the filter. A lot of guys on the car forums were messing up their intake sensors because the extra oil was being sucked into the throttle body and gunking up the goods.
