hate to ask dumb questions, but.... anyone know how to remove the license light assembly from the factory mount? only asking because i put a side plate mount on and want to cut the whole mess below the tail light off. i plan to utilize the factory taglight wire for the taglite bolts. i undid the 2 bolts on backside, but no help. since i plan on trashing the entire area, i could just obliterate the housing to get to the wireing, but i'm trying not to be an animal. thanks.

There are 4 bolts or nuts up inside the fender. If you remove those, the entire plastic liner assembly comes out (lights and all). You can then unplug the wiring harnesses, and there are a couple more nuts/bolts to remove to take the whole assembly apart.

IMO, just cut the whole mess off of there. I would just get a suitable plate light(I used 2 little bolt led lights) and just run new wires to the keyed power wire(blue I think?)
I know this is an old post. But i have been searching long enough. Not very good with wiring. And my last bike I put in a led tag light and I burnt out a fuse and burned up the wires to that light.

So after I hook up the red wire to the blue wire for the led bolts. What do I do with the black wires off the led bolts? Do I hook them up to the black wire that runs with the blue wire?

Hello,
Working on my 2014 Stryker trying to add a side mount plate. Got a set of LED tag bolts, and now I'm mildly stuck. The tag lights in the back are two blue and two black wires. On the wiring harness going from the cluster under the seat to under the fender, there is only one blue and one black wire. Is that the tag lights line? If so, can i splice in the two tag bolt wires without frying anything?

You won't fry anything. You are dealing with 12 volts DC and small amperage. Unlike house power, you can touch the stuff on your bike while it is live with no concerns.

The wires split at the rear plate light for some reason. When I did mine, I spliced in and from what I remember, there is not a polarity so you are good to go.
