Anyone else notice that when you go from neutral down into 1st you get a fairly loud noise from the transmission and feel a simultaneous jolt forward for a split second? I’ve experience this on other bikes but this seems a little more intense than what my sports bikes did. I’ve adjusted the clutch lever according to the owner’s manual but if just seems like the noise and feel is a little excessive. Also when I shift from 1st to 2nd it’s a pretty loud clunk. I wonder if i need to adjust my clutch other than at the lever? May be totally normal for all I know.

are you going from nuetral to 1st while moving, or after you stop. as ive done for years on my harleys, i take it down to nuetral and stop, then kick it into 1st. harleys give a nasty clunk like that also, so i take it as normal. i've never downshifted all the way to 1st gear.

Just an update on the loud gearbox. I just had my bud do my 4k service. He took apart and lubed the clutch cable as well as the pivot point on the lever. The service manual calls for 5-10mm of clutch lever free play so that's how I've been running it. My bud prefers to set them about the width of a nickel (1.95 mm)…lemme tell you what…the “clunk” from the gearbox while changing gears is GONE 8)

I really dont get much of a clunk since my first service and adding the performance kits, intake, pipes and processor. I do get a little clickity click or grinding if i shift from second to first to softly. Boy, I hate that sound. It is the sound of a gears life being shortened..
