I'm wanting to lower 2" with the 240 Avon. I'd rather go with the PCS kit vs L&M because the L&M stuff just seems to be overpriced.

Anyone running this combination? I don't want rubbing and I do have a little lady that rides with me sometimes. She's just 110 lbs and I'm 6'0" 175. Appreciate any help...

I have Avon 250 with the lowering links. Tried 2in drop and rubbed. Went 1in and clears by 1/2in when bottomed out. I would think a 240 would clear just fine at 2in drop.
thanks for the input....thats what I'm thinking. I'm gonna give it a try
PLease post up your results. I am going to order a new tire about a month before I come home. I am looking at a 240 also, and it would be nice to hear some more input on it.

I'm picking the bike up today with the 2 1/4" drop with the PCS kit and the Avon 240. Mechanic told me it looked fine on clearance, so I'll let you guys know if there's any rubbing. I ride with my gf sometimes but she's pretty little

Does the bike handle or feel different lowered? The mechanic that did mine was concerned it might give it a real "raked-out" feel and I might experience a "skating" effect. Anybody experience this? I told him no one one the forum complained about anything like that.

Honestly I think it seems a little more stable in the corners, but the foot pegs scrape easier but I also have the stock 210 still on. I would think the only difference with the 240 your bike will be a little higher and the pegs won't rub as easy.

Ok guys, rode her back home and I must say it feels good. I did NOT experience any of the issues my mechanic was worried about. It seemed about the same as far as peg scraping....so no prob. I tend to scrape my pegs and heels lot anyway(worn out the heels on my fav boots already), but no discernable difference that I could tell. It definitely looks good and seems to handle the same or maybe a little better.

My mechanic had me get on the bike and put his helper on the back, who looked like he weighed about 160lbs or so(considerably more than my gf). There was plenty of clearance with the fender and taillight, and the upper belt guard.

Man the best advice I could give you is to find out the overall tire height and compare that to the Avon. I don't know if I posted on this thread but I found the 240 Avon on ebay for $211 shipped, and the guys has more of them.

Hey Immortal, I have that exact combination and I do not rub riding two up! I have a very big problem with the lowering links and the Metzler (and I lost all light on the bike except for the head light) but after alot of research and trial and error with different components the final product is the lowering links at two inches and the Avon 240. I have never had another problem. I am 190 lbs and she is 105 lbs.

Yup, when i first lowered mine with the PCS Links, stock 210 and stock exhaust, I scraped my exhaust on a fairly steep right turn. Still have the same setup with the cobra swepts and hit that same spot and never have scraped exhaust again. There is another thread floating around here with this same exact discusssion and a couple of guys put the metzler 240 with pcs links lowered 2 inches and have scraped the inside of the fender with the tire. No one with the Avon has ever said they scraped the tire with the PCS links lowered all the way that I am aware of. I believe the avon is like a .5" smaller in height then the metz and that could make all the difference in the world. Decided long ago I will go with the smaller AVON 240 so I can leave my links all the way down, Just waiting for this stocker to wear out. When you first lower the bike you will notice a difference in handling, Seems to be much touchier, falls into the turns much easier. You get used to it real fast.

What did u do with the metzler?
Hey Immortal, check out this link; http://www.yamahastarstryker.com/index.php/topic,1936.15.html , this is the one when I had the discussion when my wiring was ate up and I turned to the forum for guidance. Read where my post begins and you will see the progress. The final conclusion was to go with the lowering dog bones and the Avon. Ever since I have had no issues at all!

Hope this helps!

Yeah, I already read all that. That's part of how I concluded that I needed to get the Avon 240 if I wanted to do the 2.25" pcs drop. I didn't want to buy a tire that wouldn't work...or waste money period, so I didn't do anything until I was sure. I also didnt want to pay $200 for a L&m spring if I didn't need to.

was just wondering what you did with the Metzler tire you bought that rubbed. I assume you're not using it anymore

Hey Bozzly, come on up to my place and ride around for a few weeks in these mountains. You will wear that sucker out I guarantee it.

Actually Immortal, I started sooo much crap at my yamaha dealership because of their lack of knowledge as to the products they were selling me that I got them to buy back the Metzler 240 and they purchased my Avon 240 and they ate the cost of the labor for all of it aslo! So I came out winning on this one! 8)

That's what I was trying to find out!!

Good deal for you man. I can sympathize with them on not knowing if an aftermarket tire would rub or not. How would they know? Anyway, glad they fixed it for you. I was wondering if you just had to eat the cost of the metzler. Figured you must've been able to get a refund somehow.
