I'm getting ready to take a few 3-4 day trips on my bike and I don't really want to put bags or a backrest on her. Other than a backpack does anybody have any good ideas for luggage and how to secure it?
This is one of the reasons I want to get bungee nuts. I don't want the saddlebag thing happening. You can get a small cargo net for a bike put your bag on the back seat and strap it to your rear pegs for now. My vision is bungee nuts with a good cargo, bungee system to secure down a saddle roll or something similar.
The backpack is going to kill your shoulders! I rode about 100 miles with one on and by the time I stopped for the day I could barely lift my arms. If it were me I would get a backrest and strap as much to it as I could.
saddlemen and kuryakyn make travel bags that use a system that lets you mount it on the passenger seat without having a backrest. They come with a piece that mounts under the seat and has some clips that the bag fastens on to. Then you just cinch the straps down and it is solid. Also allows the bag to act as a driver backrest. I have the saddlemen br1800 and it works great.
