I got myself the luggage rack who attach to the passenger backrest and this thing is made of thick and heavy metal! So how in the **** is there a sticker restricting the weight on it to 10 pound when it looks to me like it could hold way more! By that I mean at least 20lb. I intend to purchase the kuryakyn Grand tour bag and put it on it but the bag himself with nothing in it is 12.4 pounds! I saw a video on youtube of a guy using it on the rack but seeing someone else do something does not mean he's right!

I'd like your input on that, any other way I could go or if I should not be annoy by that stupid notice?

Its probably more a disclaimer to cover their backside in the event you load it up past their recommended limit and it breaks or falls off. Sad really, but its necessary nowadays considering lots of folks look for any reason to sue their way to financial independence.

I've got the same luggage rack and did a several thousand mile ride with around 20ish pounds. No issues. I've got to agree with Rodekill on this one, disclaimer to reduce and kill any law suit due to failure. When they create things like weight limits they usually drop it far under what the products can actually hold. I wouldn't worry about the 10lb limit.

"Do not exceed 10 lbs" is more politically correct than "don't sit on it, dumbass."
HAHAHA!!! Hilarious!

Thanks a lot guys I think it's absolutely right! I'll load it up wisely and I should not have any problems! That's what I though but hearing it from others helps for the peace of mind! :)

I'm busy making my own luggage rack so I don't really know what it's capacity will be. I normally ride alone and did not want a sissy bar/cushion on my bike but the local Yamaha guys said I would have to buy that setup to be able to fit the luggage rack. I want to fit my Givi topbox so I have some luggage space. So I reluctantly agreed. It took them 6 moths to get the parts, and by then I had started to make my own so I said no thanks, anyway the cost was like R7000 which is almost a months salary. I took a sheet of cardboard and sat down next to the bike and sketched up a rough plan of what I wanted to do. Then after drawing and cutting the parts out of cardboard I took them to the laser cutting place and had them cut out of 6mm aluminium. Did all the sanding and cleaning and dropped the parts off for powder coating. Should get then back this week then I can fit the rack onto the bike. Should not cost me more than R800 in total.
