Had found this link very helpful, found the link on another forum some time back and though it would share it. Click link and it pulls up a map of US, click your state and it pulls up easy to interpret State Motorcycle Laws.

Didn't find it in a search so figured i would share.8)

Seems here in LA we do not even need turn signals on our bikes lol....now why couldn't i get my CBR600 inspected with aftermarket turn signals when i didn't even need them by law.

It says no turn signals for off road bikes. Required on the road. All the way on the bottom.

Cool link though. Cleared up a couple of things for me. Figure it's all current and correct?

edit: Come to think of it, I'm probably thinking of the wrong LA :p

My state seems to be up to date, opened one of the pdf's and a change had been made with a new date of 2011 so its at least up to then for me.

I'm the Alligator and Gumbo LA lol.

They never mentioned anything about the tag orientation.
Yep that's what had me looking at it, to see if i could do a vertical plate. A lot of stuff is covered though just not exactly what I needed. Helps out if you get in trouble for pipes, can see if their is a db requirement.....none for me but i do have to have some sort of muffler.

If you click on the statute number you can search the actual pdf file of all the laws..... it is a TON of pages.

§507. Display of plate

A. The permanent registration license plate assigned to a trailer, semitrailer, motorcycle, or other motor vehicle shall be attached to the rear thereof. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the permanent registration license plate assigned to any truck having a gross vehicle weight in excess of six thousand pounds or to any dump truck may be attached to either the front or rear thereof. For the purposes of this Section, dump truck means any truck with a bed that raises to dump a load. The permanent registration license plate shall be so displayed during the current registration year, except as otherwise provided herein.

B. Every permanent registration license plate shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle to which it is assigned, so as to prevent the plate from swinging, and at a height not less than twelve inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of such plate, in a place and position to be clearly visible, and shall be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition to be clearly legible.

Amended by Acts 1974, No. 171, §1; Acts 1978, No. 134, §1; Acts 1979, No. 110, §1; Acts 2001, No. 424, §1.

Seems I'm good with a vertical plate as long as its 12" or more above the ground....going to mount mine to the left passenger foot peg bracket i guess.

I think it has to be red reflector. Factory tail light is clear. I am thinking of putting the reflector lower license plate bolts. Not sure if that is enough, or if reflective tape will work.
