So, this happened. I hit a big bump, and the tire ate my license plate. Then what was left of the tail light ate the tire. For the record, the tire did not cause this. The angle of the license plate after the mods I made there did. :(

Now I have no license plate, the tail light is completely shot, and I don't know yet what the state of the bracketry underneath is.

Now, as long as I'm shelling out all kinds of money, I figured I might as well mod the crap out of it. But how? What lights to use? What license plate holder? How to cut/paint the fender? This thing is my main commuter, too, so I need to be quick about this. Advise appreciated.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I've been wanting chrome glow's integrated deal for a long time, but I was planning on chopping the fender and painting the whole bike when I did it... I don't have the time or cash flow right now, since I'd need to buy the solo seat, paint everything, etc.. :( So I think I'm going to have to buy the chrome glow lights, then buy another set down the road when I do the mods. :(

I also need to decide how to mount the plate. I don't really like axle mount brackets just because I have a hard enough time mounting the tire as it is by myself. I don't run the belt guard so maybe I can use that bracket? I dunno. I PMed SJ for some advise on that. Any ideas?

This is just a suggestion, what about this taillight setup for now until you get your chromeglow?...

2011-2012 Yamaha Stryker Blaster-X Integrated LED Tail Light
High Performance Integrated LED Tail Light and Retrofit Integrator Kit from customled.com

It is one that I am thinking of replacing mine with.

I have one of Straightjacket's Side mounts that has a slot that slips over the axle and swing arm rather than a hole that the axle goes through. This makes it much easier. I have about 6,000 miles with no problems and one tire change.

Got your pm, don't know if I'd trust the belt guard brackets without reinforcement? I'm at the point now where I could make something up if you did need it, and I may have some of the stock stuff it that would help? Do you still need or want risers, and how are those bars working out? My bars bent, but the sissy bar held up like a champ!

I think I'm going to order the chromeglow stuff, I just havent decided if I want to cut the fender first. Could I get away with not painting it except maybe tape it off and seal the edge with some krylon or something? The fender is scratched up from the seat + some other scratches, so it needs a repaint eventually anyway, especially before I solo seat it some time next year.

What I really need is one of those spiffy horizontal plate brackets. I was thinking that the belt guard bracket would work great, especially if a guy could rig it up so it acts like a clamp on the swingarm. And it would give it some purpose so I don't feel bad for not cutting it off when I stopped using it. Beggars cant be choosers, though. An axle mount would be A-OK with me. And you would certainly make my christmas list if you hook me up or tell me where I might come by a similar one. 8)

The bars are fantastic. Still my favorite mod to date, by far. I've been riding without the windshield lately, which makes them look so much better. I'd try the risers if you send them, but no skin off my back either way.

I hope I don't offend you, but that tire is fugly, not to mention unsafe.
In that case, I would advise you not to use one.

I will say I have had more comments on my bike, the vast majority being compliments, in the weeks since I put that tire on than I had in the previous year and a half combined.
