Was able to get a hold of an air box to experiment with.
Thanks to prophet187.

It is basically the same as others who have done this mod. Just my version;I cut all around the air box edge just leaving the upper portion to mount a flange to mount a air filter. Using a dremel with a cutoff wheel to do most of the cutting. Somewhat of a mess, but not bad. Then cut away the air scoops and sanded, and sanded, and sanded. Man do I miss working in the machine shop!
Not sure I'll use this but I wanted to give it a try here at home. I think the filter sticks out a touch to far for my liking. Plan to cut about .500" off the tube. What do you folks think?
More photos to come later.

That's very close to how I did mine. I used a 4" adapter, looks like yours is a 3". I did cut the tube shorter. Had to slide the filter over that plug. I went to check it the other day, and filter didn't want to come off. It was stuck to the tube pretty good. Might of been because I painted the tube. Finally got it broke loose, but the filter was basically fused to that plug. I was able to move the filter down to check that nothing had come loose ( I used cold steel to form the intake ) but it would not separate from the plug. Not sure if it is from the heat. Looks good Joe..

Hey Bools, are you talking about these holes. Do you think they should be filled in with JB weld?
Yes.. those are the ones.. I think they should be covered . I think air would get in and would not be filtered. I would use jb weld, or an epoxy.. I am no mechanic though , maybe others can give their thoughts..

Sent from Tapatalk because new forum version is **** and SUCKS!!
