Well, went for a beer run to a store about an hour south of my house for some of the new Sam Adams Double-Bock, and not 3 minutes after loading my saddlebags with premium bliss, I was eating asphalt!!! Young lady in front of me pulls into the center "left-turn only" lane, I continue to proceed past her, and just as my following distance reaches the 'null' point, she changes her mind and decides a RIGHT-TURN would be a better idea for her!! So across my lane she and her jet-ski come, much to my dismay, especially since she's going practically mach-zero and I'm up to about 40mph! I'm pretty much screwed at this point, the rear is sliding, and I didn't grab the front brake very hard initially as I assumed she was going to just go straight, so by the time I realized she was taking my escape route away by completely blocking the middle, right, and emergency lanes, I was in the loose stuff and didn't want to lay it down just yet!!! I ended up hitting the right-rear tire and fender of her jet-ski trailer rather than sliding under it, and was ejected from the bike onto the highway. I'm good, just a little road rash on the shoulder and elbow (I was in a T-shirt), and my neck is a little sore from hitting the pavement with my helmet. Bike is scratched up on the left side, but I drove it home. This all happened about 7:45pm Saturday night, it's Wednesday now, and Progressive already has my check waiting for me at the dealership I took my bike to for estimates! Helmet had some scratches, they replaced it, too. $2800 total compensation. I didn't go after her for the road-rash, mainly because had I practiced-what-I've-preached about full safety gear (boots, gloves, jacket, and pants), I would've probably been unscathed. AND THE BEST PART WAS ... the two 4-packs of Sam Adams I had in the bags SURVIVED!!!(They were warm by the time I got home, but I enjoyed one anyway!!) ... FYI, the retention holster I carry my .40cal in didn't work as advertised and my gun came out when I hit the ground, and slid into the lane I was originally in! I grabbed it pretty quickly, no harm, no foul!! Anyway, here's a few pics... and please, dont feel obligated to say "bike can be fixed, just be happy you're okay" and such, cause I know... how about some other awesome comments, like "dude, WTF, shiny-side up doesnt mean the expensive side!!" or something like that!!! YOU ALL BE SAFE, AND NEVER TAKE FOR GRANTED OTHER DRIVERS ARE SURE THEY KNOW WTF THEY WANT TO DO!!!!

**** Son!!!! U Should Have Ripped Her Jet Skis Out From The Trailer With Her On It And Used Your Gat To Shoot The Tank lol Boom!!! I would imagine the damages would be more than that since u were going 40? Some jackass kicked my bike over while parked at my pad and it caused over $6,000 in damages???

You better get yourself in that Pay it forward Guardian Bell thread! I would say you got off pretty lucky, hope they checked and or replaced your bars doesn't take much to bend them and it seems one thing overly looked. I'm all about safety but if it wasn't for dumbasses like this we could enjoy our ride in a tank top. Usually around town I will wear the minimal gear, I might have to think twice seeing this.
My awesome comments: ::)
Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.
Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't.
Atleast it wasn't the expensive side...(Nice Pipes)...clutch and a lot of throttle is your horn!

By the time I hit the trailer, I had scrubbed off most of my speed. At the time of collision, I was probably only sliding at about 10mph or so. Maybe I should run a more aggressive rear tire for situations like this...does anyone make a dirtbike knobby in a 240 series?? Maybe a tractor tire?? Anyway, I carry a Taurus Millenium Pro .40S&W, but the name of the holster escapes me at the moment, so I'll have to get back with you on that one. I took a black hoodie with me for the return trip home, but found it better suited to serve as a vibration buffer under one of the 4-packs of beer!!! Perhaps if I'd been wearing it, I may not have any road-rash at all. I'll probably still have moments of reckless endangerment and wear only a tee or tank-top, but I'm dumb, so don't judge me...

Had a similar incident years ago person put on let turn signal, parking on both sides of the street, special event lot of cars. Guy saw a parking spot at the last minute on the right but I had already started to go by him on the right because he had his left signal on and he turned into me. I was going maybe 10 mph slammed on breaks slid sideways into him and put my left foot up on his hood slid across his hood doing the splits and my right boot buckle left a scrape all the way across his hood and my hwy peg put a hole in the side of his car and nothing really happened to my bike ;D As for a rear tire,

Beer Update: Samuel Adams Double-Bock and Wee-Heavy are both very good, if you like that kind of thing. Gun Report: Actually, the front sight did get a little scratch, but I forgot to tell the insurance agent about that, and it's not on the police report that I was carrying, so I may be out-of-luck!!
