So as some of you are aware my wife and I took part in a fundraiser ride for our local branch of the Kids with Cancer Foundation. This is an organization that provides support to kids facing this terrible disease as well as their families. There were 57 bikes from the Edmonton ride. On day two we met up with the group from Calgary for a total of 110 bikes. It was amazing to ride with so many great people and what an experience to ride in such a large group.

Overall, in our group of 57 riders from Edmonton, we raised a total of $210,000! I especially want to thank those of you from this forum that so generously donated to this amazing cause. Know that 100% of your donation is going straight to the cause with no loss to admin fees or any other BS.

Our route was from Edmonton, AB to Canmore, AB for night one. Then to Fernie, BC. On to Golden, BC. To Jasper, AB. and back to Edmonton. In total about 2300kms

Enjoy!

Sunset in Red Deer, AB

Start of the ride at Gasoline Alley HD

Photo stop at Bow Lake

My bike with a sweet ass Victory Cross Country Cory Ness. It was signed by Cory and Arlen when they were at the Cycle Works shop last year

Me

Me coping a feel on the ol lady! haha

This is Ruby. She is a little girl who is battling cancer. She was the hoary child selected this year to ride along with the group. Such a sweet heart

Open Road with a view

Photo stop with the largest dump truck in the world

View off our balcony at Lizard Creek Lodge in Fernie BC. Those are million dollar weekend homes that are at the base of the ski hill. Crazy!

Each rider carried a bear named by the child they were riding for. Mine lost his bandana to the road!

Lunch break

Me and the beast. Not only was I the only Stryker, I was the only Yamaha in our group of 57. I got so many great complements and questions about the bike and all the mods

Harry, Morris, and Dan. Morris is 71 years old and still rides like a 20 year old. Great guy. Oldest bike on the ride was a 1975 HD with kick start!

Stopped for construction just outside Golden, BC

Group shot looking back. Most of these pics were taken by my wife while on the back of my bike. Thanks babe, great job!

Fuel stop in Golden, BC. When we rode into town the looks on the peoples faces were priceless. Even had a cop who had someone pulled over look at us going by and I think he had to pick his jaw up off the pavement. He was probably thinking I'm gonna need backup! hahah

We are checking out Serge's bike. He went into a hairpin turn going way too fast and just about lost it. The bike slid one way then the other, grinded the tip of his exhaust off the barricade then regained control and managed to pull over. Could have been A LOT worse. If he had high sided he would have gone down the embankment and this would be a lot different post.

Me, Dave, Meagan, and Craig

What a view. This was where we had breakfast on day 3 after a gondola ride up the mountain

Columbia Icefields just outside Jasper, AB

Me and the wife trying to dry out. When we left Golden, BC we rode for 4 hours in a downpour, hail, and thunder and lightning. Temperature was only just above freezing.

Waterfall on the side of the highway near Jasper

Bunch of Japanese kids were taking a pic so I photo bombed them!

Stryker and the Icefields

Bears are a little wet after that ride! haha

Great picture that Dan took outside the Jasper Park Lodge

Amazing one of a kind trike in Jasper, AB. It belongs to a Canadian Forces Vet. Definitely a work of art

Two Big Black Engines!

A parting short of us, the bike, the bears, and the mountains. This was one of the best weekends of our lives with amazing people coming together for a very worthy cause. We have already signed up to do this again next year.

That ride looks amazing and with a great cause to boot. You have my respect and thanks as foundations like the one you helped have had huge impacts on my family. Two of my cousins had cancer as kids, luckily both pulled through and it was people like you who made it possible for the families to cope with not just the expenses but the emotional toll.
Thank you

On a side note according to Google maps it would only take me 1day and 22hours (2600 miles) of constant riding to make it out there for next years ride........might just be worth it.

Thanks for all the comments guys. We had a lot of fun and made some great friends.

Hey Ronin and Dreadly, if you are serious about participating next year I'd start talking to Val (the organizer) early because they put a cap on the number of riders and it fill ups fast. They have to cap it just for the logistics of the trip.

Stunning pics of the scenery !!! Your part of Canada is certainly beautiful. Summer, for me here in Georgia, is the worst time to ride. Temps here this week are forcast to hit 100 F. That's HOT. Thanks for sharing your pics and commentary. It made my day ! :)

Man, that looks like it was an awesome ride. Thanks for sharing. by the way, I see you have some speakers hanging on the bars. How did you make out with that shark setup?
was not really pleased with it. I'll run with it this year but next year will be getting the Tsukayu fairing with stereo and speakers built in

These pix prove it's truly not the destination . . . it's the ride that counts.
