this is the way i modified my plate installation. i shaved off excess (about two inches) and moved plate up. i used the bracket that came with the bike i just hack-sawed off the extra metal and reflectors. i then purchased the bolt lights for illumination. i'm pretty pleased w/ the look:

When I was in Alaska, I remember something like vehicles had to have stock exhaust, or similar. No engine swaps, unless stock-to-stock. Only way around that was to pay extra $$ for seasonal-only tags (aka summer only)!

The reflector doesn't but the plate light that is directly under it/a part of it does. You can just disconnect it at the connector (yellow connector) without having to cut any wires.
