Yesterday my Son & I went on an awesome 200 mile bike ride to the beach then returned home without any issues. Then he took my Stryker for a little ride to see how it rides with my upgrades. About 5 minutes later I got a call from him & I knew he had some kind of issue. He ended up laying it down in a easy 90 turn going about 40mph . With the bike on top of him they slid across the road & into the ditch right between 2 trees.

My son's got a bit of road rash & a brused ego. He rides a Ninja 636 & just leaned too much into the turn. I cleaned/inspected the Stryker today then took it for a ride around the block. Drives true & sounds fine. Insurance adjuster should be out next week to see whats next.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad he isn't hurt too bad. Bike can be fixed or replaced... I can imagine the Stryker handles a lot different than what he is used to. Lesson learned.. Good luck with insurance. I hope it goes well.

Your Son's OK and Bike can be replaced or fixed. Might be close to totaled-OEM parts are expensive. Take care and wish you the best.

Thanks, ya'll. My son was surprised at my lack of concern for the Stryker because he knows how much I enjoy it. I just reminded him I can't replace him. The bike can be fix/replaced. It easily could of been way worse & my son is a new dad himself with a 9 week old son.

It's even a wakeup call for myself to slow down a bit. I've been riding over 40 years & have known too many at no fault of thier own are not here today because of bike accidents. For now I'm driving my Yamaha FZ1 until I rebuild/replace the Stryker.

Glad you're boy isn't worse for the wear...splitting 2 big trees at those speeds could've been ugly as you undoubtably know. If they total it will you replace it with another Stryker?

Glad he wasn't hurt. Coming from a sport bike myself, I can tell you it is a HUGE difference. The first time out I scraped the pegs and almost crapped my pants... lol. What makes it worse is that, for a cruiser, the stryker leans very well and very easily. Which makes it hard to not want to lean it right over and end up going to far.

Yup, vehichles can be replaced. Tell him if he feels bad he can cover the deductable. ;D If the bike is riding true, it looks like alot of the dammage is on parts that we all have in our garage? I bet you could get alot of it replaced for shipping costs? Just a thought.

I want to see the road rash. Sorry about the bike, glad the boy is ok. I couldn't be mad if he came out of an accident with only a few abrasions.
You asked. He normally wears very protective gloves & better pants except for this ride. "Just going for a short easy ride" He had a motorcycle jacket on but it wasn't all zipped up....

First off, glad your son is okay. Just remind him - There are two types of riders: Those who have laid a bike down, and those who will lay a bike down. most important thing is he's ok and now has a wicked story to impress folks with and remind him to take it easier.

This is a reminder for current/former crotch rocket riders - Those bikes are engineered to be nearly sideways, stiff frames, tweaked suspensions. cruisers are engineering to be vertical. Yes the Stryker is one of the best "leaners" out there as far as cruisers go, but this long a wheel base isn't good horizontal.

I've riden crotch rockets, cruisers, etc. and this Stryker really does lull you into thinking it can handle a lot more than any other cruiser I've riden, and does handle great, but not that great.
