My oldest son (23) was riding my wife's Ninja 650 for a few days while he was waiting on parts for his modded Ninja 636. He sends me a picture of the odometer when the bike hit 1000 miles. The very next day he sends me a picture of the bike after it hit the pavement/curb/fence. He's doing good, some road rash to the right side. His riding gear is trash.

We bought the bike new 3 months ago. The insurance company gave us $76 less than what we paid. Now we plan on replacing it with a cruiser. The little time I had with the Ninja 650 I think it is an awesome 1st bike. It was much easier to drive than the 2004 Rebel 250 that we had as a learner bike, great handling & plenty of low end power. 6000-9000 rpms it had a really nice but not over powering pull.

I have always like that ninja, I had a 500 ex back in the day that I bought used and sold a year later for $200 more than i paid for it. That 650 got good reviews. They say riders have 2 crashes 1 from inexperience and 1 for overconfidence. Its unfortunate but it will probably make him a better rider.

He's had both crashes now. He told me that he didn't respect the bike & paid for it. Time will tell if he has really learned from it.

Man glad he's ok so what happened?
The trees around here dropped most of their leaves on the same day (crash day). He was going too fast & when he tried to stop he gave it too much back brake & the bike went down. He was sliding on the road with the bike on top of him headed towards the curb so he pushed the bike away causing the bike to hit the curb sole then tumble thru the air landing against a heavy duty wooden fence.

Some have to learn the hard way, been there more than a few times myself. We are thankful that he's ok. The roadrash gives him time to think about the consequences for his actions.
