Well looks like I'm the newest member to the forums.

I've been wanting a bike for many, many years. As my wife says, this is my midlife crisis :) But in reality, I've been wanting a bike since the late 90's. I used to ride in the 80's as a kid, in the Army, but when I got out, I no longer had that friend with a bike to use, so never continued the Thrill. Plus $$$ was tight :)

Well I spent the last few weeks Actively looking for a Harley Davidson or a Used Bike cruiser. I was very close to getting a Honda VTX1300 that was used, but someone jumped in and grabbed it, and I'm glad they did. So yesterday I was at a couple Harley Dealers, and sat on more then a few bikes. It became evident to me if I wanted to spend 18K, I could get the best bike for my weight and height. Well that's a bit too expensive, so on a Whim, because a local Power Sport shop showed online they had a Victory, I decided to stop in. When I got there, i knew they sold Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Polaris, Arctic Cat and so on.. Well I was still looking at the Honda line, sitting on a Stateline the dealer told me about the 950's and so on, and I asked what is the VT1300s competition, and he pointed over to the Stryker Raven. Yeah I LIKED it. :) I went over, sat on it and it fit nicely. So still thinking about the Honda, I said it was an option and went home.

Well after researching info on the Stateline, I seen it was low quality plastic chrome parts, hard ride, and not very nimble. So I searched on the Stryker and everyone said great things about it. Funny since I had never even know of the bike before my visit. I think the limited amount of bikes on the street actually made me want it more. When you look at a group of bikes riding, they ALL most often have same features with different colored tins, and usually Harley's. So I look forward to standing out in the crowd. :)

Anyhow yes that was a lot of chatter for a n00b, can you tell I'm excited :) :) :)

Thanks

Chip

Oh forgot to mention this Am i worked out a deal with dealer, on a good price and should be getting my bike by Monday :)

great to hear Chip, welcome to the forum, you will not be disappointed with this bike, it seems as though it is kind of a perfect bike for everybody, we have women riding this bike as short as 5'4" and a few big ole chunky-butts like myself that are 6'4" and over 250 lbs.

StrykenShane - Thanks for the welcome. Consider me part of that Chunk-Butt/Gut clan.

I look forward to seeing the mods people do, and getting on mine.

I just heard from the finance company, and all is a GO. Sadly my Insurance agent is a M-F shop, and the Cycle shop closed early on Monday. Oh well looks like Tuesday is the day. :)

Thanks guys.. well just as I suspected, this waiting for Tuesday is KILLIN ME.. Woke up at 5am, and had all kinds of things running through my head.

So one question, and yes it's a silly question, but here it goes. Does anyone have a source for a nice Stryker Sticker for the Car? :) :) I've had a HD sticker on back window, but since not riding one, I figured might be nice to put a Stryker one on :)

Hey Chip. I know the couple days wait is killing you, but you are going the love the Stryker. I bought mine last June and I am loving it. I have a small list (LOL) of mods. I am really always looking for make my Stryker stand out. I know there have been others sold in Illinois, but I have rode up next to one yet.

Yeah killing is an understatement...

I'm actually not only EXCITED about getting the new bike, but I have to be honest, a bit nervous as well. I took the Illinois MSC classes late last fall, and had no problem on the 250's :) Being a Big Boy, I felt I needed at least a 950 for first bike, and well since I don't plan to SELL this bike in next 5 years, I decided to get this one to hold me over and I can grow in to :) Plus it's just a great looking bike.

But reading on the forum about the stuttering while taking off and the rake on this is a bit more then the 250's I've recently ridden, so not sure how I'll do that drive home. Sadly the dealer would not let me test ride it, BUT I still felt comfortable buying it as FIT is a big part of the issues for me. :)
My wife reminded me that just up the street from the dealer is a HUGE parking lot that is a Church so will be empty on Tuesday, and weather permitting, I'll just take it over there, try to get used to it, before hitting the highway home. So whatcha think is the stutter a BIG ISSUE? Is the turning right at a corner from a stop a lesson in Physics? or do you think I should be ok?

Well Chip let me fill you in on my experiences. I took the MSC class in the summer of 2010. Then I bought a new Honda 750 Shadow and put less then 300 miles on it that summer. Then last year in June, my husband and I went to Richs Yamaha in Lockport looking for a new bike for my husband. Needless to say we left with 2 new bikes. I was so scared since this bike was twice the size and power. We left the dealership and it started to rain. Then came the heavier rain and tornado force winds. Small branches were blowing across the road and then to top it off it started to hail. We almost made it home before the hail, but had to stop. We waiting a few minutes and then headed home. Wow, what an experience. Not only did I ride in the heavy rain and winds, but hail to top it off. My husband, who has been riding for years, said I was a trooper and did a great job. I love the Stryker and you will too. Just take it easy and it will be great.

Wow Patrice... That's an insane experience... I actually took my MSC in the middle of a weekend where it was storming all weekend, so that was an advantage to learn how to ride in the rain, and counter the skidding :).

I'm sure I'll be OK on the new ride, and will take it nice and slow for sure. Thanks for the vote of confidence :)
