Have been stripping chrome from some of the plastics and thought I would share a pic of the speedo trim all naked. The key/ignition trim is a dark grey plastic. Soon they will be off to the painter for coloring's and the metals will go to the powder man for their new clothing.

First it will get a dye dip to pre color the plastic black.

No theme yet. I am just an anti-chromemite. Not that their is anything wrong with that. These pieces will just be black until I commit. I have been bouncing color schemes and themes through my skull for months. Probably in the next month when it is to cold the bike will go in for her new colors.

About $16 in clorox baths and about a week of soaking. Change the bleach every 24 hours with a rinse and scrub. After a week wash with soap and water and scotch brites to remove some residual stains.

Boy, did I read that one so wrong at first!!!!! Lmaoooo XD But I continued to read and it looks funny with out the chrome plating.
;) ha, good one!
however, if one wanted to impress with a blinding god-like appearance, a chrome speedo would most likely be the way to go (would match a chrome helmet too) ;D

I scuffed my plastic/metal chrome pieces and then hit them with primer - then paint. Have held for going on three years.

Do you want the copper to be antiqued, or bright, and possibly a faux hammered finish?? If so, look at the Rustoleum hammered finish series of paint. And you want copper, or perhaps bronze?? On your cogs, you could make the interior of the cog copper, and the exterior bronzen, then a possible accent thin pinstripe of both colors. Just an idea, lol. :)
