I'm looking at getting a backrest so my gal can join me for short rides and what not. I've seen tons of pictures of both the tall and short Yamaha backrests...as well as other brands for the Stryker. The problem is I’ve not seen any pictures of said backrests with passengers sitting on the seat to help give an idea of where the backrest will "rest" on her. She's 5'3"...if any of you folks could post pictures for me I’d appreciate it! The last thing I want to do is buy one only to hear her say “this is too short/tall”

Skwerlee, If you look at my avatar, that is my wife on the back of my bike. That is the tall yami backrest with the mustang back pad. She is 5'1"

I know it is a tiny picture but should give you some idea.

Hey skwerle I have both the short and tall Yamaha backrests. With my mustang seat the short backrest sits just above the passenger seat and the bracket actually pinches the seat.Doesn't matter how tall the person is, the short one is more of a "butt" back pad its so low

Your lady will want the Tall- believe me. been both routes. She's 5'4" 125 lbs. As Raven Stated"Short one is just a butt pad"

I have the short QR on mine. My girlfriend is about 5'5". She has no problem with it, and feels very secure. I have not had her try the tall, and why would I if she likes the short? LOL... I think the short looks so much better.

My wife is 5'4"... and she's sitting on a PU Wide Pillion with a Fixed Tall backrest - the backrest pad is a mustang vintage/classic.

Another quick question about backrests...would anyone be able to tell me the dimensions of the tall back rest? I'm looking at making a pad if I buy a tall back rest that is more comfortable than the original one. What's the separation between holes horizontally and vertically (if any)? What is the width measured from the outside? What is the height of the upper portion? Thanks to all!

The link you provided is $35 higher than what I paid for the tall fixed backrest with a standard pad....
