I have been negotiating with 4 different dealers in my area this week on a 2011 Stryker. Some will not negotiate, some seem to negotiate but end up with worse deals than others.

1: The first is the closest to me he would not come off of $9716, even though he has no 2012 UN-crated and on the floor b/c he has to many 11's. Told me i could not find a better deal anywhere else around....

2: The second is an hour south of me and he went down to $9600 or $10,500.06 otd == which would be 5700+financing after i did $4800 down going by the email me sent me.

When i asked if it would be better to wait for the July incentives he said he couldn't tell me details. But that i may save $200 more or Yamaha may offer 0% but take away the 750 cash back offer. I need a better cash back offer and am leery of chancing it.

3: The third is an hour away in Tx, he went down to $9467 or $10,760 otd price -- His otd price is more than the 2nd dealer but quoted me less to begin with???

4: The fourth is here in town around 20 mins away, i have emailed them with no response so far. Haven't had time to go by any this week, so I'm going to try and get by there today or tomorrow to see if they can do a better otd price than dealer number 3.

Either way it goes, I will be buying either next Friday right before the cut off on the 750$ mfg cash back or waiting and seeing what the incentive for July is and possibly giving it til the first week of August to see that incentive.

-- The guy who will do $10,500 otd is only wanting to let one of his blue ones go for this. I'm leaning towards a copper/red so I'm hoping this last dealer will throw me a bone.

And don't get me wrong these are pretty good deals...but I've found better ones except there farther than I'm willing to drive. Like $8999 in Baton Rouge, La and $8499 in Wichita Falls, Tx both over 5 hours away.

;) Anyone on the up and up of what the July Incentive will be ?? ;)

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

no idea on current incentives.....

But I would use each dealer's quotes against each other....and maybe you can get the same deal at your local shop....

Also get the dealer to throw in some extra's, i.e. helmet, jacket, gloves, rack, etc.....and at least the first service if not more.....

I might be able to get my local shop to match his price....hopefully but i doubt anyone will go any lower. The incentive right is 750$ cash back and 3.99% interest for 36 months or 4.99% for 48 months....etc

Dealer 2 doesn't charge anything other than tt&l after final price is negotiated, the other dealer must have been throwing in all kinds of fees. He said $9467 which should have been $804 in taxes and $75 for registration so the other $450 must be fees.

If this local shop will match or beat my best otd offer on a red/copper or maybe blacck Stryker I will be picking it up Saturday morning.....unless someone cares to inform me of more customer cash next month lol.

Go to your local dealer with the other dealers in your pocket and see what they will do before you pull out the competition from your pocket. Dealers will take you more seriously if your in their show room then doing it by phone or e-mail. Local dealers are always best to buy with if your only talking a little bit in savings difference. If you need a dealer in a crunch after sale, why would they bend over for you if you didn't buy from them?

I'm heading to the other dealer in town tomorrow, as long as they don't have hundreds of $$ in fees on top of the asking price and are close to 10,500 otd I will plump down my down payment and take it home.

Would like to get it local so i can work out a deal on installing my lowering kit next month and any service later on.

Money talks. Get your financing somewhere else and walk in ready to write a check. All the negotiation goes out the door then and you can name a number that works for you. They may or may not counter. They want those 2011's gone.

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

Any place other than my bank is going to have an outrageous APR no matter my credit score right now. My credit score was over 750 earlier this year for a large unsecured loan i took through my bank and it was 12% interest, luckily i was getting some nice commissions and got it paid off in just a few months.

Yamaha is offering 3.99% interest on 36 months and while i plan on paying what i finance off before the end of the year it will be nice to not have a high interest rate just in case i have to keep the loan longer. I have no loans or cc balances right now so i do need some kind of revolving account, will most likely be ordering all my accessories on my cc and just paying it off every month.

And even walking in with cash I wont save much more, there isn't much margin already especially with it only being out a few years. I would guess i could save maybe another $500-700 but then if i couldn't pay it off quick the interest would eat into that extra discount pretty quick.

I would hope if they wanted the 11's gone he would work with my 5k down payment, he should recoup any money they have in it right off the bat. Even if i walked in with cash he has to meet some number to make profit, so I'm still going to have to negotiate.

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

Big, last week I did the same exact thing as you except I went to the bank 1st and secured the loan that I needed and deposited my $2800 down payment in my checking account. I did this for one reason only. That is, so I was not at the mercy of the dealerships. As far as they knew I was buying the bike in CASH MULA! I played a couple of dealers against each other and finally finished the deal at $8920 or $9500 OTD. I wrote him a check and 30 minutes later I was gone! The dealer paid half my chrome backrest $200 and gave me the first service free. I felt good about the deal and the dealer was happy also. In 2 weeks I've got over 700 miles.

Come up to southern Minnesota and buy mine and ride it home. Raven edition with low and mean solo seat, rear and front fenders, gas tank trim and lowering spring and chin scoop. Saddlebags, all stock stuff with it still. 920 miles. I'm buying a new house so I gotta get rid of it. Gorgeous bike. Just bought it this spring and just got the low and mean stuff installed from the group buy. Email me if you or anyone else may be interested. [email protected]

Lol i hate the idea of a 5 hour drive to buy a bike, a 17+ hour ride there and back would be terrible for my ass. And after gas, hotel, food etc....I imagine i would come out ahead buying new.

You might consider working with the dealership with the bike for 8499.00. It's only a couple hundred bucks to have a bike shipped. You may be able to get them to pay for it as part of the deal.
The $8499 ad was dated 5-13 which i didn't see he said he had sold out already. The $8999 in Baton Rouge still has one blue left and $300 to ship. But i would rather pay a little more and get the red one, looking like a lot of blue bikes are going to be leftover stock this year b/c it's all I'm finding people wanting to deal on.

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

I just got my 2011 copper delivered on tuesday of this week. I paid $8250 for the bike. I added $660 of extras. My dealer would not budge on the prep fee since the bike was so low. All in all bike, extras, prep, tax (NJ = 7%) & tags $10,200 out the door.
If you like the bike and Know exactly what you want, I would strongly consider buying from a dealer willing to meet your price and having it shipped. If you are not comfortable with that bring your laptop or smart phone to your local dealer. Show him the online price and the cost of shipping. Also remind him that he will be the one servicing the bike and that is future dollars in his pocket and that you would like to start the relationship off on a good foot. Good luck!

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

My logic is a bit different, first unless your savings is great...how much is your time worth...figure out a number your happy with and is inline with what everyone else is paying and just pay em, I've watched people continue to shop over a 200.00 difference...but have to wait..heck for small money why go to the extent of calling..emailing and really just delaying getting what you want and will end up paying regardless of how many you call. The fact is markup on a 10k bike isn't huge money...if you can get out the door at 10k or close then you have a great deal...simple.

I agree. 10K out the door after TTL is the sweet spot.

Re: Negotiating on a new bike....

Well I am the new owner of a Red/Copper 2011 Stryker, ended up making a deal for $10,500 otd and that came with a $225 helmet and the 5 year extended warranty. Put $4800 down and financed the rest for 36 months through Yamaha, was in and out in less than an hour. Put 75 miles on it this evening and couldn't be happier, I WILL NOT be needing bar risers and the seat will be fine for awhile. I will however have to lower the rear that extra 2" which may be a hassle cause im already dragging the heel of my right boot on sharp curves.

All in All I'm happy as i can be with my purchase and the service. Mods for the first week of July will be side plate mount and R1 or z6r integrated tail light. Then I may be ordering some pipes and a tuner, although i would like to find some pipes just slightly louder than whats on it now... they have a nice rumble.
