Hey, guys. I've been lurking on this forum for a while and figured I should pull the trigger on setting up a profile.

I've been riding motorcycles since I could get my feet on the pegs of an old Chaparral 80 dirt bike - so I guess about 19ish years. Since then I've stayed with offroad riding a bit (switching mostly to ATVs) and have been a very dedicated sport bike rider. Here's the bike's I've owned:

  • [li]1989 Honda VT250R --> broken :-([/li]
    [li]1996 Honda CBR600 F3 --> sold[/li]
    [li]2002 Suzuki SV650S --> sold[/li]
    [li]2006 Kawasaki ZX6R (the 636!!!) --> reluctantly sold[/li]
    [li]2011 Yamaha Stryker (Raven)[/li]

This is my first cruiser and I gotta say, I do love the riding position - very comfy. However, I do find myself looking for more revs out of the engine and I'm scraping pegs through the corners - the bike handles like a pig compared to what I'm used to, but that goes without saying ;D I picked the bike up because my dad recently bought a cruiser (Honda Stateline) after a 25 year hiatus from the motorcycle world and it was a long time dream of mine to be able to go ride with him. Sportbikes don't make for good cruisers and I really liked the styling of the Stryker (Raider is cool too, but something about air cooled motors just turns me off) so I pulled the trigger.

Anyway, sorry for the long winded intro - really just wanted to say hi!

Hi and welcome! You're absolutely right. This thing turns like a pig. I ended up scraping the ends of my foot pegs down to the rubber in my first 1000 miles. I ended up changing my riding style because I realized that if I wanted to drag stuff on corners, I should have bought a sport bike. That and I couldn't afford new pegs 4 times a year :) Enjoy riding with your father!

awesome man welcome from TEXAS 8)

I too came from a sport bike background. The Stryker is my first cruiser and I must say...I enjoy it so much more than I ever enjoyed my sport bikes.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

I'm in Woodbury, MN (east suburb of the Twin Cities). I've seen two Strykers on the road since I got mine in March - a Raven near I-94 on Century Ave one morning as I was pulling into work, and the other last night over in Andover (a copper one). I've also heard from my buddy down in Cottage Grove that his neighbor has a Raven one and that he is on this board.

Welcome, I have a few bikes in my family including a 636(blue bike in my pic) so I understand your "reluctantly sold" comment. Upgrading to a 240 rear tire helps a bit with the peg scraping but for a crusier I've been pretty impressed with my Stryker. After scraping my exhaust in a turn I've mellowed a bit. Next step for me is forward controls which should reduce the peg scraping as well.
