Allo chaps. I recently had the distinct pleasure of sitting on a whole fleet of 2012 Strykers at a yamaha dealer near fort bragg, nc. Needless to say i am just blown away at the beauty of this machine and what feels like excellent craftsmanship. I currently ride a 2003 100th anniversary sportster 1200 with a screamin eagle II kit. I admit i have grown quite fond of the real-deal harley sound... but i'll be selling the beast before long to set myself up for my next bike purchase.

There are many great contenders out there. Vulcans, sportsters, used softails, used vmax's, (i've ruled honda out completely at this point) and so on. But the Stryker really is a one of a kind in my eyes. They do what, upper 60's in horsepower? For a ~650lb bike it should be a good show eh?

So my question. Is this bike REALLY enough bike to pull a guy away from Harley Davidson? They both seem to be great products with excellent fit and finish with tons of features. Have any of you guys made the switch? What did you like best about your Stryker compared to your harley? What do you dislike most about your Stryker? I'll be the first to raise my hand and admit my sportster occasionally has electrical hiccups, for instance.

tl;dr What do you guys like most about your strykers? What do you like least about them? How do you stack them up against Sportster 1200's (if you've ridden both) ?

Thanks guys. Awesome forum overall i might add. :)

Just my .02 but I rode practically every bike made big enough to haul my big ass around before I bought my Stryker, it was the only one that made me feel like I was part of the bike and not just along for the ride, and the mods are endless, just check out the galleries

Web mag did a comparison between the stryker and the H-D rocker. They said they were doing 0-60 runs for the first 1-2 Seconds the H-D would jump a head, little higher torque, but the Stryker, little lighter and maybe little more hp, would pull ahead after that. Google Rocker vs Stryker

Expect between low 60's-mid 70's for horsepower. Depends on the mods. Exhaust, fuel programmer, and big air will push you into the 70's. I'm 6' 1" and 230 lbs and it has no problem pulling me around. I've rode the springer cvo (110 c.i.) and the rocker. These were the bikes I was considering until I found the Stryker. Hands down the most comfortable seating position of all three. Plus you can do just about every mod known to man and still spend less than what you would on a H-D CVO.

Just remember when you test drive it, make sure to go back to the dealership. ;)

Thanks for the input guys. Its much appreciated. I did see the rocker vs stryker video, though from the get-go i dont see those two in the same class. I see the stryker as a sportster competitor more than anything else. Similar engine size, similar weight, similar price, etc.

If i were to get one, how much money would i have to throw at this thing to put it in the same horsepower ballpark as my Screamin Eagle II sportster? Let's say mid 70's. I only weigh a buck fifty, but i like my speed... not going to lie!

The Rocker c is Harleys closest comparison to The Sryker. The Rocker c has a 280cc advantage over the Stryker and weighs 80 more lbs. But the Stryker was walking past the Rocker by the time it hit 60 mph still in 2nd gear while the Rocker was already in 3rd.
I don't know how fast yours is with the screaming eagle kit but I have rarely here anyone talk about hitting 130+ mph on a HD. Stryker hits that with unbelievable smoothness. What are the numbers on your HD 13.25 1/4 [email protected] mph for the Stryker stock.

My harley tops out at 115, it just wont get up past that. How fast do these Strykers top out? Are they factory governed in any way?

You guys didnt answer the other part of the question, what parts *dont* you like? :p

I've pegged my speedo a few times and it was still accelerating.
And yes it has a electronic rev limiter set at about 6,500 rpm.
What I like about it the most is the unique look. Then the comfort is the 2 things that sold me on it. I ordered the blue one because my favorite color. Didn't even test ride it. So the awesome amount of power it has and smooth high speed performance was a bonus ;) I really didn't expect it to be that fast. The engine is very smooth do to roller rocker arms but you can feel the power when you rev it up. The one thin I didn't like was how quite it was. that's why I drilled the baffles right away.

I haven't really found anything I don't like about the bike but then again I only have 2500 miles on it in about 2 1/2 months good of riding weather. Sound could be better but you asked how much to increase power so sound issue is taken care of. The blinkers, I figure you need them so why ***** but there are options for them too. I just thought of one thing that I don't like and a few will agree....... It's the horn, it could have been hidden better, but riding your foot is right there, and the sound of it....
