Just want to give a shout from CA. I have been crusin this forum the past month or so as a guest absorbing eveything I can about the Stryker. This past weekend I test drove a both the Raider and Stryker at a local dealer to make the determination which motorcycle was for me (and which forum to join ???) Since I am here you can see I have opted for the Stryker. I had to respect the Raider it was a powerful awesome machine, however as newely licensed rider and for where I plan to ride and my size frame I felt the Stryker was more natural fit for me better and dream to handle. A very short test ride in heavy city beach traffic the Stryker was more nimble. The Raider felt like it might be more at home on long stretches and while the 1900cc in the Raider is a kick in the pants in it torque the 1300cc has plenty of power to get me in trouble around here.

As for the search on my new baby, I have visited two dealers and talking to a third over the phone (due to distance) and while this has been covered extensively in "what did you pay" I cannot get any dealer to even get close to the $9200-$9500 OTD prices that others have posted and this of course is without any accessories thrown. This is on the Blue 2011's that have been sitting around for year and in less demand than the Raven with the recent July 2012 $750 rebate . All of the dealers claim that at $9500 OTD would set them below thier factory invoice and have let me walk. Once dealer an hour away posted 8K for the bike and the local dealer said they would price match but then when it came to negotiation time they told me freight was $900 and setup was $700, a $1600 markup in bogus fees. When I started to walk they came down another $200. The lowest offer I got was $10,200. My only thought is that those low OTD prices other paid were from states with no or very low sales tax. I doubt out CA dealers are paying more than other states. Our sales tax here is 7.75% and DMV and doc fees are about $200 which puts the total about 10% without the bogus fees. The last dealer quoted only $95 each for the setup and freight which is reasonable but he quoted 11K so I know these fee numbers are just a markup. Depends on how you slice it I suppose. I would love to hear from any southern california owners as well.

Re: New member from Cali, not a an owner yet :(

I forget that CA is such big state, I live in Orange County, about 70 miles south of Los Angeles. Red Bluff is wee bit away. It would be faster for me to get to Vegas. :-X But if I get a good deal I do not mind a road trip. Thanks!

Welcome, hope you find the deal you are looking for but 10,200 is already a good price. Stop driving yourself crazy and just buy the bike. You will be happy you did. No matter what price you pay there will always be someone that got a better deal and you should not feel taken. The bike is worth every penny of that 10,200 price and more. Many on this forum paid more than that price. Good Luck my friend.

We all like to get a great deal. Deals can also devalue our bikes. I got mine march of 2011 and got deals on accessories but about 500 off total . Just get the back. Owning it makes you forget about how much you paid

$10,200 is a good price OTD. When I got mine, they had the sale price at $9500. Then all the fees, plus traded in a bike I was a little upside down on.. and let's just say... $10,200 OTD is a smokin deal... take it. I got the Raven, and thought the sale price was good.. shipping and all that other stuff is BS.. but most charge it. I say go buy your bike.. and have fun.. I am in So. Cal as well.. Got my bike in Simi Valley...

Not really sure what the retail is on a 2011 now. One dealer stated that the only difference between the 11's and the 12's is the price went up and there are now two reds instead. According to the Star website when I pull up a comparison the 11 and 12 MSRP there is a $100 increase on the colored strykers and a $90 increase for the Raven.

Sicontex, you make a very valid point I never considered. These low ball deals devalue the bikes. Being a home owner I can appreciated that. Having a foreclosure or short sale in the neighborhood does not do the rest of us who have equity and pay our mortgage any favors. I really do appreciated the feedback.

If the general consensus from other Stryker owners is that$ 10,200 is a great deal then I feel better in knowing if I was getting a fair deal.

The Stryker is by far the best bike for the money in my opinion. A friend at work has a Harley Davidson Rocker. It is a very nice bike, and actually the bike I rode that got me looking for a cruiser. That being said, I think my Stryker is more comfortable. When you consider the Rocker is over $20,000, it's kind of funny how everyone wants to get the Stryker for under $10,000. Every dollar counts, I agree... but there isn't a bike available that will give you more bang for your buck...

When everyone talks price they talk "Out the Door". The real picture is What did you pay for the "Bike" Fees change from state to state. So your comparing Apples to Oranges. If you can get the bike around 9200-9800 your getting a great deal. I believe Invoice is around 9750ish. Add your taxs and fees on top of that and there's your price.

It's a long haul from you (I'm in Lancaster, a ways north of LA), but my local dealer has one and they've always been great with me. AV Kawasaki-Yamaha-Polaris. You could call them at 6619481019 and talk to James. He's the sales manager, and you really don't want to deal with anyone else. He's not in today, though; I was in there a while ago.

I paid more than you're looking to pay, but that was over a year ago an I got a couple grand of accessories.

edit: And tell 'em David sent you so I can con them out of some more discounts.

Agreed. 10k is the sweet spot IMHO. At $10,200 the dealers can negotiate other incentives like free helmets or an accessory, but it allows them to book a sales price that's more congruent with their bottom-line sales report for the month. Take the deal and have them throw in something!

I bought mine last year OTD with everything for 11k and i thought i got a great deal with not having to pay sales tax and freight charges.... I also got $550 in free accessories (Leather Jacket & Gloves) and i told them i wanted their employee cost for other accessories that i wanted for the bike so i ordered up all that i wanted and paid that on the side which worked out good!!! You might be able to get it for a couple hundred less since its been a year and i think MSRP has gone down just a tad???? Lemme know whats up since ur from SoCo

8)

Lived in Ventura County for 44 years.....Absolutely a great place to live........ended up buying my bike up North....since I relocated for work reasons.....

Don't remember my exact cost......about 10.5 out the door...less than MSRP price, but had to pay the other fees......was working a couple dealers against each other...

I did pull down a jacket, gloves and helmet.......have no regrets....have had the bike 11 months.....and luckily only owe about 2K at this point...paying over double the monthly payment.....

It seems that 10k-11k is about the norm for OTD and not the mid 9's as others have posted. I got too excited thinking I had been blessed by the Stryker Angel when a dealer about 60 miles away posted a ridiculously low advertised price. In talking with some local dealers to see if they would price match, I have learned this dealer uses this tactic to lure in customers but nail them hard with high setup and destination charges to make up the marked down difference. In reviewing Yelp many unhappy people have listed complaints about the sales tactics of this dealer. The three local dealers that I have contacted all have stated that they cannot touch the mid nines as it would below their invoice. I am going to go back to the dealer I felt that was being more honest with m and charging me $200 for destination and setup and letting us deal on a fair price for bike without all these games on inflated fees. Maybe OTD price is OTD price but it seems more transparent that way, Now just to pick Blue or Black.

Best not to even look at the "What did you Pay" thread......

Different parts of the country must have different prices.......I felt I got a pretty good deal, and could not talk the dealers nearby down much....ended up going with the dealer I felt most comfortable with......
