Hello everyone,
It's been twenty-three years since I last rode a bike, I've never had a license. I decided to go for broke, maybe it was a mid-life crisis since 40 is just around the corner (April) but I'm enjoying the **** out of it. Last month I went to the local Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer here to look around a bit for a used bike to get myself back in the saddle. The sales guy/kid was great, he made a lot of suggestions. I plopped my butt on several bikes, I started describing how each bike felt and how I wanted to feel while sitting on the bike, he then pointed to a left over 2011 Stryker. I sat right on it and absolutely loved it! I wasn't ready for a new bike in my mind though, I needed a used bike one I could ride and feel out whether or not I should pick up riding again without breaking the bank or my neck. I knew I wanted the Stryker though as I left the store, I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Two days later I purchased a 2005 Suzuki M50 and went down and took my permit test passing on the first try of course. I've rode the M50 on the limited nice days we have had high 30's and low 40's with my brother-in-law following me in the car since he has a motorcycle license and refused to freeze along side of me, lol. After a few times on the M50 I found myself getting bored and needing more...
So over the past few weeks now I have been researching the Stryker and been to a few different dealers getting information. I decided last week it was time! I had to have it! I got off work, ran to the bank got the loan and went right to the dealer with check in hand smiling ear to ear. 15 minutes later I was the proud owner of a Red 2011 Yamaha Stryker with 10 miles on the odometer! Sadly since I have got the bike the most I have gotten to ride it was from the dealer home (1.5 miles
).
So to make my wife happy over the expense I had to resell the other bike and take her to dinner. No problem! My parents came over the next night and my father who used to ride all the time asked what I was going to do with Suzuki, of course I told him I was selling it. I never thought to ask him if he wanted it, he is 59 and had 2 heart attacks. I have always wanted to be able to ride with my dad...my mother came out of the house and saw my dad looking over the M50 and she said "well? do you want it?"... he said "right him a check!"...WHAT! WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
I just stood there in aw and actually started to cry...due to my mid-life crisis my need/want/desire for a Stryker was fulfilled and I also get the chance to ride along side of my father!
