It is a good day =]

Been eyeing the Stryker for over a year after having first wanted a Honda Fury. Finally stepped up and made what is looking to be the best purchase of my life.

I'm new to riding and was hearing a lot of caution about a 1300cc engine being too much for a first bike but after my friend rode it home from the dealer I got on it and played with the clutch getting a feel for it and before I knew it I was zipping down the street finally feeling that oh so wonderful feeling of freedom you all no doubt know and love so well.....

Tomorrow I'll work on turning.

Bike came with chromed wheels as the only modification to stock.

Other list of things I'll be looking to add based on some research on this awesome site and elsewhere:

Boulevard Windshield
Quick Release Passenger Backrest - for no one in particular but I expect that to change soon!
Rear Luggage Rack
Cobra Swept Exhaust (Chrome)
Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Tuner
Cobra Floorboards
Low and Mean LED Brake Light and License Plate Kit

Air intake still haven't decided on...

Glad to have found this site to see what everyone else is up to and get some new ideas of my own.

Welcome from Plainfield, IL. Did you buy your Stryker from a dealer? Just wondering since you got chrome wheels.

I have the reddish-copper and someday I would like to have chrome wheels. However, I have spent a lot already. I have the boulevard windshield, I am waiting on my Cobra PowrPro air intake (any day now), the Low and Mean LED Brake Light and License Plate Kit has been on back order since 2/27 and I just ordered my Cobra swept pipes and Fi2000 PowrPro today and hope to have them installed by next weekend. And will also be installing my new ISO grips.

I have only been riding for a couple years (after many years of not riding) and this bike was a big step up from my Honda Shadow 750, but well worth it. I love it and I am sure you will too.

Welcome from Atlanta, ga, take your time, when turning remember to keep your eyes where you want to go and your body will naturally make you go in that direction, watch your speed going into curves and you'll be fine

I am sure the L&M assembly will look great, I am just getting impatient. Its been a month already and I thought I would have installed already. :(

Check out Kieth Codes Twist of the Wrist videos. Really good stuff, there use to be a link to YouTube videos but that appears to be down. Gives you lots of food for thought and really helps explain counter steering.

Yep yep =] Flat Out Motorsports in Indianapolis.

Turns out I've actually sat on this bike before. It was the show model at the Indianapolis Boat Show back in Feb. The dealer loaned Yamaha corporate this bike for the show.

I've always liked the red Stryker but after seeing it in person today at the dealer it didn't seem as red as the pictures I've seen. It is more stealthy and still a beautiful bike, but the blue with the chrome wheels called to me.

Thanks all for the kind welcomes!

I fell in love with the Fury when it first came out. But when I saw it in person I was turned off by the plastic. When the stryker came out it pushed the Fury off the list. Glad to have ya.

Welcome from Florida.

One piece of advice for you. Ride your bike as if no one else on the road can see you, because most of the time they don't. Beware of people turning left in front of you and also pulling out of side streets and cutting you off. Do your best to anticipate what the other drivers are going to do before they do it.

Sorry, I'll stop preaching now. Stay safe.

Welcome from Northern MN. When I started I had a small 450. It was a great learner. A lot of people are against starting with a big motor. I can understand why. To each their own. If you take it easy and pay attention. You should be fine. Know your limits. Alaskamonte has it right. It's not necessarily you, it's everybody else you have to watch for.
