Just picked up a 2011 Stryker midnight. Been to cold and snowing in Michigan to even ride but that hasn't stopped me from starting my customizing. Been creeping on here for a couple days. You guys have some pretty BA Rides. I had Nyjol make me a speedo plate. What you think?

I already did cobra swepts, cobra air cleaner and fi pro programmer. iso black grips the Kuryakyn mirrors. Looking to get l&m taillight other than that not to sure. Probably the gaiters on the forks. Gunna murder it out not a fan of chrome. Already painted engine covers also.

I blacked out a lot of mine, but left some chrome for accents. You definitely should black out the speedo housing.

I actually picked up the paint to do it tonight before the wife made me take her out to dinner... Did you sand and prime 1st? What is best process to get smooth finish. I went flat on the engine covers but think gloss would be best on speedo ignition cover and headlight pod.

I scuffed it up with a scotch brite pad. Then I used a self etching primer. I finished it off with black satin trim paint. Matches the factory matte black well.

Wecome to the forum from Buffalo, NY

I like the eye on your speedo plate,,,very cool.:thumb:

I also was going to paint my 2012 speedo plate, ignition cover & headlight gloss black. Plasti dip Black is a matte finish but I checked their site and they have a "glossifier" product that results in a gloss finish so I ordered a couple of cans and will use that instead of paint. (no sanding, no primering, I'm for the easy way)

Enjoy your stryker!

Edit: Oh yea, there's a lot of videos on you tube regarding plasti dip

I haven't seen the plasti dip in person, but the pictrures I've seen look really good. I am really happy with the trim paint I used though. I think it looks factory. I have powder coated several parts as well, and they match well too. Kind of hard to miss match black.. LOL .

LOL, true very had to mismatch black. I am going to tackle this project this weekend. Whether I go paint or plastic dip I am not sure yet but I will post pics as soon as I'm done. Thanks everyone for the input.

Nice, I am curious about plastic dip. What is everyone's opinion on that vs rattle cans as far as looks?
Suppodedly you can peel it off. But I have not tried. It has a textured look and the right way to apply is multiple light coats. I don't think it will be as durable as say sanding and painting but it was my first mod and so far am very happy with the results.
