I'm new to this forum. I picked up a black Stryker in the spring. I have only been riding for about 6 years but love it! I have riden a Shadow 750 and a Vulcan 900 but this bike is by far my favorite.

I may need help in the near future. I recently was traveling in N. Cali and a driver (on the phone) didn't check his blindspot and moved over into my lane. I was forced off the road onto a gravel median and lost control of my bike. I'm ok, just minor damages (cracked rib, sprained wrist, and tore a muscle in my arm). It looks like they are going to total my bike so I am concidering buying it back and fixing it myself (with help from my husband). I will need new pipes but the rest can be repaired as far as I can tell.

It's good to see so many people here that love the Stryker as much as I do.

Ouch! Glad you will be alright. I know you will hurt for a while and I feel your pain, I was t-boned on a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 in 2005. I had some injuries that required a couple of surgeries and the bike was a mess.
Like they say, it is not a question of if you will go down, it's just a question of when.

I hope you mend fast and get your bike back in running order soon.

Ouch! Good to hear that you pulled through. "Minor damages"? Cracked ribs goes past minor for me, so bravo for the guts! :p Hang in there, it could have been so much worse. As Venjurak said, Its not if youll fall, just when. Keep riding, but keep the shinny side up! ;D

Nope...I say It's just a question of "if" Been riding since around 15.... I'm 52 and by following MY saying, I'm more confident and careful as opposed to waiting for the inevitable. God, I hate that dumb saying! I know sooo many peeps that NEVER went down and those that NEVER did till the day they stopped riding! (My Gramps for one)

LOL Schimbo your funny. It was a man driving the car and he was on his phone as far as we know. He didn't even stop. He's an idiot. I love the pipes (minus the baffles) but it will be getting a sweet paint job for sure.

Wrecks always suck, but at least you're still around to ride another day. :D
I'm sure you'd find plenty enough help within the forum to help you in getting your bike together, if you had decided to buy it back after the insurance company totaled it out.

They are up to $8500 in damages. The pipes are $1500 alone. I saw pipes for sale in the classifieds but have to wait until final decisions are made.
**** $8500.... is your ins gonna total it or salvage it? usually they total/salvage it if the damages are more the 80% of the cost of the bike?? at least thats what i was told??

I am telling you! I am getting the loudest, biggest, meanest, dirtiest, straight from **** Air Horn I can fit on my Stryker. If some lunatic just merge into my lane without looking, their ears will be ringing for few minutes.

I am riding for 23 years now, never had an incident (on road bike ...dirt bike is something else ;) ). But I am still as careful as I was the first day.

Being loud is a very good option on a bike, it does help!
