Ok so I know there are like a TON of threads out there talking about bike mods and what goes first, etc. But I also know there are some contradictory threads out there, so I'd like to ask a few questions for clarification:

1. Does drilling the pipes (with no other mod) cause popping on decel?

2. If you do the 1/2 airbox mod and drilled pipes do you need a "tuner"?

3. I've only seen one picture of the full airbox mod so I'll assume that to do the 1/2 you only cut out half of the diffuser?

4. I know that there have been some issues with one of the companies and their auto tune product, have those been fixed and which company was it?

5. Will drilling the pipes and the 1/2 airbox mod stop the low rpm chug or is this only fixed with the full monty of pipes, airbox and autotune?

Thanks all!!! :p

1/2 airbox mod I did before full. I also added K&N airfilter at the 1/2 mod time.

I have drilled a total of 8 holes pipe and cut out half of the air box and I havent had any problems. I do not have a tuner and there is no popping at all. I love the way it sounds. The holes in my exhaust consist of 4 1/2 in and 4 1/8 in.

1. I question wheter it "causes" popping.. I think it is more of a "now you can hear it pop" issue.

2. Since the pipes are still pretty constricted by the Catalytic converter... I don't think you "Need" a tuner ... It would just help.

3. yes

4. if you look through the forum.. typically you hear the "bad" issues... but according to Cobra... only a few (how ever many that is) complaints have been logged. I have the PowerPro and love it!

5. doubt it will stop the low end chugging...

Just my opinions on the questions...

Thanks Y'all.

I'm still looking into what I want to do with spare pennies that my kids haven't gotten a hold of. :)

I don't want to ruin something then HAVE to buy a tuner which I may not have the $$$ for and once the pipes are drilled I can't go back and change it back.

I recommend drilling the pipes and doing the O2 mod. I at first had the drilled pipe and the auto tuner but sold the tuner for alittle extra cash to work on my other bike since the wife cut me off on buying stuff. Since I was on a budget I decided to try the O2 mod and its not as good as the auto tune but close enough for me the bike runs great now. heres the link to the post on how to do it its very easy.

The thread mentions someone making a replacement harness but I'm wondering if one of the manufacturers have come up with this aftermarket harness that will work? I'm not very good with electrical work so would prefer a plug and play rather than deal with cutting and soldering.
