Figured I'd share this with you guys who may be experiencing the same surging you get on decel and at cruising speeds. It definitely made a difference in how my bike runs and it didn't cost me a penny because I happened to have the materials needed lying around.

For the full write-up and background info on why you would want to do this and what it does you can read up here.

For those who are interested in just knowing what you need and what you need to do:

You need a 1/4 watt 820k ohm resistor (or 825k ohm if you can get 1% tolerance resistors) to be spliced inline with the white O2 sensor wire. It is as simple as that.

the v-star 1300 guys have been running this mod for a couple of years and i've never heard anything negative about it. i believe it works well on stock bikes...but when you add pipes and an intake creating a super lean condition does it still work well?

The whole idea behind this mod is to richen up the low RPM/throttle zone that is managed by the ECU to meet emission requirements. It doesn't have an effect on higher RPM/throttle ranges.

My local radio shack didn't have any of these resistors.
I ordered $5 worth on fleabay last night. That equals to 100 of them, lol.
If anyone needs a resistor, I will have 99 to get rid of. I will do the mod as soon as they arrive in the mail...

You probably would've paid about the same for 5 from RadioShack anyway.

I just ordered this for my bike earlier today. Here is a bit of additional info on it's benefits from a user on the Yamaha forum who already has it installed.

"Morg KW replied: Realizing the 1300 & Stryker share the same engine, I'll add two benefits found with Jack's O2 Mod that are in addition to eliminating the surging issue, one 'you' will notice and one that 'your engine' will notice. The one you will recognize is a tad bit better throttle control in the lower 30-40% of the engine's power range. The second one will benefit your engine as a result of the mod providing just a tiny bit more fuel, creating a tad bit cooler running condition than before. While this isn't as important with a liquid cooled engine vs. one that is air cooled, it still remains to be a positive factor. And for $50, most find this mod to be an exceptional value, me being one of them.

Be well - be safe. "

Here is the link to the thread on the Yamaha forum. http://www.yamahamotorcycleforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30005 This in the V Star 1300 section but I verified with the maker of the mod, the part number of the O2 sensor and they are the same on the Stryker. Same engine, just different airbox, mappings, exhaust.

Basically you just send $51 through PayPal to [email protected]
Just make sure you say it is for the O2 Mod and where you would like it shipped.

My pack of 100 resistors hasn't arrived yet, therefore I haven't performed the mod.
You can send him $50 for the plug n play or if you don't mind your own diy mods and since I have 99 extras just send me a SASE and I will put a resistor in it for no charge.
I will do my own little write up in the next few days. It sounds easy to perform.

Can you post the link? Have the PowrPro on order but for $50 it will diminish
the aggravation of waiting for Cobra to start shipping again. Thanks.
This mod won't replace a tuner.
It'll only affect the low end rpm's or the first little bit of throttle.
You'll still need a tuner if you have a full exhaust.

Do a write up about what? I think my post just about covers it. :p It really is that simple. Snip a wire, strip the ends back, put a resistor in, solder/crimp/glue/tape them together and you're done. Ten minutes, tops.

Like said previously, the 1300 guys have been doing this for some time. I've had this now for a couple weeks and about 1000 miles and have had no ill effects.

Save yourself $50 and just do it yourself, its more fun that way. Or if you guys are dead set on blowing money I'll make you plug & play sets for $30. 66% of that cost would be the O2 connectors.

The Dynojet PCV comes with what they call a O2 optimizer which I believe is the same thing. Its to modify the closed loop system in our ECU to obtain an air/fuel ratio of 13.6:1 between 0-3000 RPM and 0-20% throttle.

Well, I received my 100pk of resistors yesterday and decided to perform this mod.
I took a bunch of pics that I can forward to anyone but it's really simple. About a three beer job if you drink fast...lol
Xavier was dead-on. Find O2 wires just off the sensor, cut n strip, solder to the resistor ends, cover up your new elec connection- I chose a bic ink pen tube about 2" long, cover all that back up with black conduit from auto parts store, enjoy.
I was drinkn beer so I didn't test ride last night but I rode to work at 4:30am and noticed a little difference. I will ride around town here in a few hours and see if there is a huge difference.
