O2 sensor? What if we just unplug it for the lean issues?

First post here...had been running drilled stock pipes but just added V&H twin slash pipes and have a ejk tuner on the way. I put the pipes on and took it for a spin with the o2 sensor unplugged since I don't have the fuel programmer yet. I assume the ecu will default to a richer setting similar to the resistor mod for the o2 sensor...Or will it be too rich all over the rpm range? The test ride was only a few miles but seemed to run smoother with less chugging at low rpms in 1st/2nd gear and backfires on decel were not very bad at all. So just a thought for the stock owners looking to do the resistor mod...maybe just unplug it all together. Please chime in if this has been done, but my search turned up nothing. Maybe it will suck gas like crazy, but don't think so. I didn't ride the bike any more yet and will be a moot point when I get the controller as I have read the o2 sensor gets unplugged anyway.

Took the advice found on this thread and unplugged the O2 sensor on my '08 V Star 1300. What a world of difference! I was really annoyed at the jerkiness of the accel/decel chug at low speeds. This quick "mod" by just unplugging it really smoothed out the acceleration and certainly got rid of the catching jerk when letting off the throttle at low speeds. I took it for a test run after unplugging it and could immediately tell the difference. Thanks!
I unplugged it, plugged it back, unplugged it again, plugged it back. gonna go get some beers now.
Hello,Guys.

I am Alexey from Ukraine and need your's help. I have 2011 Stryker with V&H 2in2 and Cobra intake. Yesterday I threw into the trash my fuelpak, because i was dissatisfied of his work. Last season I constantly tried different values, but these secrets with his maps made me completely angry.

I started to drive without tuner. With the O2 sensor connected, the mixture is slightly lean, and the famous dips at low speeds.

Then I saw your topic and turned off the O2 sensor. It's a completely different bike.
Dips at low speeds disappeared and the AFR became richer (apparently the ECU switched on the emergency map when the sensor was undetectable). Spark plugs in the normal state, the insulator is light, but the electrode is dark.

I want to know how many of you drive without a tuner with the O2 sensor turned off with intake?
Did you check your AFR on the stand?

I like the flash service from Ivan, but for me it is not available, because i am in Ukraine.
I found a local master in my country, but I do not have the confidence that it will make the right tuning in the ECU. He promises me to adjust all fuel maps from ECU memory so that there is no need for a tuner(PCV or others).

Maybe me should continue to drive without a sensor and not worry?

Thank you in advance! Sorry for bad English.

well, since most of us on this forum have our ecu's flashed from ivans - we all have the o2 sensor unplugged - some run with a tuner and some without...

as for your current predicament - I'd say if you are happy with how the bike is running without the o2 sensor plugged in... then just leave it that way - it won't hurt your bike at all. So, leave it off if your happy and enjoy your ride!

Thank you for reply. Yes, bike running very well. But the best is a enemy of good:))
I want to send ECU to Ivan, but he does not answer my private messages. And for call I have bad English. Does anyone know his email? Thank you!

Although my spurk plugs at perfect condition. I use 95 EURO octane, this is 91 according to the American standard. The motorcycle really goes well, and feels and sounds a very balanced mixture ... but I would like to get the maximum benefits, too well you describe Ivan's flash.

Plugs look perfect! Ivan doesn't have an email that I know of. I could call him for you. I don't think he will service overseas but i can ask for you, he may have a contact for you.

Thank you, guys. I will try to send my ECU to Ivan at November, when his give 10% discount.
