Does anyone know if there is a difference between Yamaha oil filter # 5GH-13440-20-00 and 5GH-13440-50-00?
I ordered -20- from motosport.com and they sent -50-
I searched -50- on their website and it comes up available for the Stryker but the parts schematic only lists -20-
The dealer originally installed filter -20- also.
Thanks for any info.

Do you know the number at the auto parts store? What brand do you get.
I don't know the part number, but they stock a FRAM oil filter for $6.00, or if you're feeling fancy, you can get a K&N filter for $12.00 (which is what my dealer charges for the OEM filter. This is at Advance, I can't say about other part stores. I was surprised they even stocked MC filters. This is where I also get my Rotella T6 oil for the bike too. ($29.00 for a gallon, which is exactly what the bike takes which is convenient)

I picked up a fram PH6017A for $6.47 and a gallon of Rotella T6 synthetic for $21.36 at Wal-Mart. Not a bad price for full synthetic oil change.

Just because a filter will thread on doesn't mean it "fits". The pressure relief valve settings may not be correct for our bikes that's why I use OE filters. I used to do the same thing you are doing until all this technical stuff was explained to me about all that jazz.

The Fram PH6017A is for our bikes. They specify it as a motorcycle filter. It is black, not orange as the car Fram filters are.

What weight of T6 Rotella did you get? My walmart only has 5w-40, also $21.36.
5w40... . I thought it was 15w40.. but I did the oil change just now, and it is 5w40. I read it wrong. Still good, the higher number is how it projects in the heat, so same hot weather protection as 15w40.
